I think we had the foam v bugs discussion on another thread a while ago?I think the gist was thatFoam works well at all depths, but bugs are only likely to catch on or near the top, but are no better than foam even there.

Make sure the swivel is spinning freely but probably not worth worrying about as itíll only be twisting on the retrieve or cast and will right itself once in the water and unspin, as it will once on the bank.

Never found them to be worth it, more of a gimmick, foam works just as well.

I have always found fox zig aligners prone to a bit of twist. Make sure it sits straight on the hook etc if you use them

All I can stay is stick with it, I never used to have confidence in them and it was something I would chuck out for a couple of hours out of desperation when blanking. Since then Iíve seen times where itís kicked off massively with them or the only way you would get a bite. Still massively underrated!

Do you fish with 2 rods or 3?

With 2, unless the fish are clearly in the real upper layers, fish one a third up and the other 2 thirds up. If you have not luck after a few hours, trim a bit off of each and the agian after another few hrs

If you fish with 3, use the third at about half depth

If you're worried about colours etc, sunny weather and clear water, go dark, dull weather and coloured water go bright.

Its not everything but its how i start off, even now and i do alright

In would start around mid depth, 6, 7 and 8 ft and adjust from there. Changing colours and adding or removing a foot at a time until you find the magic formula.

The level at which the fish are situated buddy.

I normally start with varied depth unless I can see the carp, say 4 ft and 8 ft in 12.

Also 2 ft under the surface in warmer conditions.
