Nothing at all IMO.
You just need to alter the washers to suit your preferred line lay.

If you think about it..
Your reels worked perfectly and line lay was to your satisfaction.
The problem did not become apparent gradually did it ?
The only thing you did was change the line to another brand.
What was the only thing you did to cause the problem to show itself ?
You changed the line...!

That's what diagnostics is all about...
Same principle applies to fishing reels as to two hundred horsepower motorcycle engines !

See to get diagnostic right both remotely and when actually working on stuff.
You need ALL the info at the incept...
I hate diagnostics really .It's like pulling teeth to get the full story.
Trouble was I used to be very good at it !

This applies to post one as well as two.
The characteristics of the line have changed since you originally put new line on...
Abrasion ,U.V. , age all alter line characteristics....
So does loading line hot...(From a bucket full of warm water) as opposed to being reeled in from out of a freezing lake on massive chucks.

I was going to ask if you had respooled...but you answered that.
Yes,the reason is the line has different properties to the original line you spooled.
That's why some folk buy a new reel and it spools perfect from the factory...
someone else buys exactly the same reel and uses a different line and needs to add or remove washers.
Thickness, supplety and other factors influence line lay massively.

Add washers to load line to the base of the spool, remove washers t load to front of spool , you will see how the line is loading after 100 or so meters have gone on ,this is the time to add/remove washers

I am too aswell mate, from my understanding if they need any adjusting itís when there done for the very first time....Iíve just spooled up with some fresh line canít see why this would be the issue though, however ive marked each reel and taken note of how many washers were in there originally, so now if it starts to go towards the back of the soool I can take them back out and the reels will be as they came

Iíd have thought youíd add a shim / washer , bringing the line down the spool.

Unsure why after two years itís out.

Hi I own some ultegra c14 xtb 14000 and the line lay seems to be playing up...there seems to be more line towards the top of the spool, only slightly but enough to notice it...in this case would I add or remove a washer? Iíve had the reels for 2 years and never had this happen before, whatís the reason for this happening? Kind regards
Danny
