I think that's your reason right there. I too am on them, have been for 5 years or so. The 1st lot they gave me totally disagreed with me, made me feel arthritic everywhere, it was a battle just getting going I had to stop those and was put on to Atorvastatin, which touch wood (ooh err) is a lot better for me.
What I have noticed is that drinking for days on the run***** can make me feel like crap again, then lay off the booze and return to normal. I assume that's a cumulative thing in the body, probably in the liver. Laying off the Statins can help too if i know I'm going to have a pint but I prefer not to do that.

***** that means say 4 tins on A friday watching footy, maybe same on Sat/Sun (don't really drink during the week)

My father in law refuses to take statins, they made him feel that bad, than again he has a few pints every night so again I think that was probably a cumulative effect.

I quit 5 years ago having been a drinker since my teen years, certainly a game changer, still have the odd alcohol free beer if I'm being social etc

I'm lucky. Never really got hangover s. Just finding a now I'm getting older and with my diabetes I'm not wonting it and make me fill bad. I'm not missing the beer or pubs to be honest. Might fancy a cold beer in the better weather while sat in the sun fishing. But I'll wait and see.

Drank enough in my 20's to last me a lifetime, cheap drink in Germany didn't help and i'd think nothing of doing half a litre of vodka in the mess before going out out, and this was most nights of the week work permitting. How i never became dependent on it i'll never know but even back then i could take it or leave it. same with the cigs smoke 40 in a night and not have another for days. Now in my 50's i hardly drink at all, i do love a beer, red wine G&T but as i've got older the hangovers last longer, 2 days of feeling rough so i rarely go ott now.
