Size 6 hook and 11mm pop up for me, superb hook holds with either microbarbed or barbless hooks which, I have to sometimes use.

Me too size 4 , used to do fairly well on smaller hooks, then I started stalking and watched fish spit out those small hooks for a past time. A change to size 4 hooks stopped that pretty much straight away .

Same. I don't consider a 14 on a 6 a small hookbait on a big hook at all.

Use an 11mm with a size 6 most of the time and works well for me

Usually a proper job pop up - they would float a housebrick -

Used to use a small 12mm pop-up with a 1/0 Kamasan sea hook back in the day, it worked very well.

Use what your confident in.

I have had success using small 12mm pop ups with size 6's on tough waters. Incresses the hooking potential in my opinion. You may find bouyancy issues if using off the shelf pop ups. I would recommend cork balls with a thin paste layer.

I use 14mm pop ups with size 5 and 6 hooks, never had any issues. It's what I'm confident using.

Whatís peopleís thoughts on these? Say a 12-14mm pop up with a size 5-6 hook. I know they will work but is it really subtle enough to fool big old carp on hard pits. The hook always looks so blatant to me but Iíve never had good results using small hooks with pop ups. Appreciate people thoughts and experiences.
