End of March is a good time , I went a couple of years ago in March - had a look at the slota- plas , was a bit dodgy and my mate didnít fancy it so we looked at the canals . Ended up out past schiphol where there was an entrance from the canals to a huge lake.
Locals we chatted too were going for catfish as they said the carp wintered in the big lakes and spread out through the canals in spring, so the best time is when theyíre coming out.
Iíd advise a strong braid as I was using nylon and got smashed by cats.

We used to fish Slota-Plas a long time ago however my Dutch friends tell me that, due to the increased migrant population they wouldn't wish fishing there on a broke d!ck dog.

The canals would be your best bet as it will still be quite cold I would imagine. Also no bivvies with ground sheets allowed now as it's classed as camping - Brollies only I believe.

There was a fair bit of talk on Cemtex one time, I've posted a link to a bunch of threads from there.
In particular, the first thread offers to introduce the angler to a gentleman who goes by the name of Freek Stevens and that alone would make for an entertaining stay in the dam?!

Hi guys after a little info if possible , Iím visiting Amsterdam end of March on a road trip in my camper van..I will be taking the fishing gear with me.. this is a first time trip fishing in Holland all previous trips have been to France .. Iím struggling for venues places to look for... from info Iíve gathered I will need a vispas permit and an additional night permit if I wish to fish nights... can anyone point me in the right direction of park lakes/ public lakes canals etc in and around Amsterdam that I can do some angling on with the chance of a fish.. size of fishis irrelevant itís more of an experience and catching... I will be dropping in the tackle shop which I believe is called hengle sport 2000 and asking for info aswell... any advice or help will be greatly appreciated
