I use size 8 Korda Mixa's with zig aligners and never had one break in testing knots or on the bank.

Thatís interesting Pizza. Can you share any similar measurement for the kind of hook that would be used on a zig aligner? The hook on FISHIN ADDICTís beetle juice fly looks formidable but I havenít hooked anything on it that would damage any hook unfortunately.

The flashattack flies looked good value but I didn't rate the hooks. I test every knot with spring scales and the hooks were snapping pulling to around 10lb

It somehow seems more satisfying to catch with a fly than foam

Bought a cheap fly-tying set and make my own and make some for my fishing buddies.

I find that bugs and big dry flies (very cheap from Ebay) fish as well as foam on or close to the surface but foam is more effective below that. Iíve had some success with bugs and flies positioned under overhanging bushes but perhaps foam would work just as well?

Completely agree. I've used them and I'd say they were notably less effective than foam.

Black foam is the one for me. I've even stopped using foam in other colours - reason being certain colours seem to catch me more on certain days, but the bigguns always come to black.

I was looking at buying some more natural looking zigs to try rather than just black foam just wondering what people would recommend?

Nash look good but they are expensive... guess I could make my own with foam and black amnesia? I rarely fish zigs but everyone is on bottom baits or pop ups.

Cheers All
