Thanks Richard, it's a long time since I bought a Cartes de Peche so it looks like I may well be better off buying a full licence. I may finally get around to fishing the canals nearer the German border.

Also worth mentioning that the 2 week carte no longer exists, they now run for 7 consecutive days at around 30 Euros so you will need 2 for a fortnight which is not much cheaper than the annual carte which will then tempt you back later in the year!

Unless you speak a little French, online is better.

Luckily I speak French however, the guys in Attitude Peche do not speak English as I saw my English mate struggle to obtain his Carte until my arrival in the shop.

Personally, I think you are in a fantastic area at Campagnac with lots of options nearby and right on your doorstep.

Sounds good Ken. Would you recommend buying Cartes from the local shop or online before travel? I will only need a two week licence.

The other one is on the D911 near Leclerc down by the Buffalo Grill.

Good shop...very helpful. We always buy our Cartes there. Then followed by an obligatory jumbo entrecôte and three pints of Euro Fizz in the BG...Bliss

Any Gamm Vert will have a sack of maize, it's about 15 Euros for 20KG, there will be a Gamm Vert close, they have outlets in most towns and the bigger villages . Campagnac a fair distance from Villeneuve but if you're around that way there is both a tackle shop and a Gamm Vert very close to each other on Avenue de Bordeaux, the tackle shop is called Peche Attitude and is close to the Auchan supermarket whilst the Gamm Vert is closer to Villeneuve. The tackle shop definitely sells boiles and prepared particle.

I would also suggest that you take a look in Decathalon, the closet to Villenueve is in Agen and there is also a store in Bergerac. They stock a variety of prepared and dry particles including Tiger Nuts and a range of boilies starting at 23 Euros for 10KG.

There’s 2 tackle shops both on the outskirts of VsL, one is up by Auchan on the Avenue de Bordeaux. The other one is on the D911 near Leclerc down by the Buffalo Grill.

Thanks for the tip but there doesn't seem to be a branch within 2 hours drive.

I have the chance for a bit of fishing the second week of July on the Lot near Campagnac. Would there be anywhere in the area where I could buy a 10kg sack of Maize? Failing that are their any specialist tackle shops between Villeneuve and Casseneuil? Somewhere where I could get pre-cooked particles and decent ready mades?
