I caught my PB on the KD with stick mix threaded on.

I'd stick to standard straight through rigs with balanced or bottom baits. Sometimes if fish goes for the stick, they can get foul hooked with a popup over it

Certainly gives confidence in the fact rig is laying protected on top of debris

I like using stick mixes, and just keep my rigs simple. Soft coated braid tied kd style with the reverse whipping up the shank. Normally use a balanced bait . And thread the hooklink through the stick rather than just hooking it on the end. Always confident on a bite.

Brilliant lads Thankyou very much for the replies...so I can basically use any type of hooklink? I like the idea of wore and shrink over the top thatís clever 👍... could I use the kd rig with the shot just under the hookbait?

I never cast out without a stick on, the only situation I wouldnít use a stick mix is when I would fish a hellicopter set up.

I normally fish snowman or Ronnie rigs on a lead clip.

I think they're best with balanced baits, I used to use them for most of my fishing with snowman hook baits on blowback rigs.
I used coated braid combi rigs and proper combi rigs with heavy mono booms and soft braid hook end. Only drama is if you like to have a weight of some assortment on the material join. Putty or shot and you have to replace after threadingvin your stick. Another way is to wrap lead wire round the joint then put shrink tube over the top, then you can pull it through your stick if your careful, helps if you poke a hole through the stick with a bait needle handle etc.

Hi, Iím going to be fishing stick mixes...threaded onto the hooklink,my question is can you fish pop ups with these or are they better suited for bottom baits and wafters...secondly I am a massive fan of fishing combi rigs...am I okay to thread the stick onto a combi rig or does it have to be a supple or coated braid?
