Whatever model it is Gerry it's never been "ultralight"...in fact I would go as far as to say they couldn't call it the "ultralight" going forward as it would be in breach of the trades description act as it is in fact, and always has been ultra heavy!

Obviously saw loads on the bank years ago, but I never owned one, or set one up. Is the pioneer free standing like a tempest or does it fall forward like a brolly would ifthe storm poles arenít in place. ?

Does that also mean if you want to use one without a front you still need two storm poles fitted even though itís open fronted?

dont think its the ultracrap ultralight I think its the proper one the Pioneer

And currently I own the Tempest Bivvy but I would far rather own this Pioneer with rear vents provided its not the ultracrap ultralight

Aqua clothing from £99 quid

I think the pioneering spirit range bombed if its the force 12 or himalayan one that had the union jack it might sell well.

People always want them

Spot on. Itís a weird decision from aqua considering they must know how successful the tempest has been and obviously they will know all about the rumoured v3 air seeing as itís the same company.

I can see this bombing to be honest. I bet theyíve ordered a very limited run. They are basically pitching themselves against one of their own products. Weird business model, like Coca Cola releasing a brand new cola but at a higher price than their own flagship product.

Not really sure why Aqua have chosen now to re-release the Ultralight.....4 or 5 years ago yes but bivvys have moved on and although the Ultralight was an awesome shelter at the time I'm not sure it will be as big a success bsecond time around....

Well I cant agree with that ! and I think your wrong ..........for far too long we have been having our pants pulled down with the price of bivvies and brollys
now with the new companies now producing bloody good gear like
Cyprinus ,Carp Zone
to name just 2 we can realise you can buy good serviceable gear for a fraction of what the big 4 or 5 companies have been charging us its about time these big companies lowered there prices and sold more

I cant disagree with that but misses my point. I didnt suggest it was good value for money or whether it was worth the money. Like it or not, Aqua are prestigous brand, and that is why they can price high and get away with it, No different to a designer brand polo shirt doing the same.

Why sell more at a lower margin when you dont need to?? .... That makes no sense and undermines the brand exclusivity .... I wouldnt buy a Pioneer (it's an outdated design anyway imo), as I havent bought a prestigous brand angling bivvy/product for many years thanks to the access to cheaper, well made alternatives .... But i wont bitch about Aqua for being successful or how they price their goods, it just means I am no longer their target market, and im ok with that but if you look outside of this forum Aqua are still a very popular brand regardless of their pricing.
