The trouble with AT is they need the handset and boat plus their turn around time at the moment is not 6 weeks but more like two months, very slow.

Cheers Tom I will look at Howes, they are doing 2 Microcat batteries for about £30 I assume these will be the same for a Technicat.
Sir B, good idea may give AT a go with the handset they won't know about the mod without the boat, assuming I don't have to send both!
Heathrow, it has a short 6 inch black aerial and I have also noticed a dead giveaway on the handset, says mk11 on it god what a tit how did I miss that!

Thanks for the replies chaps

Does the handset have a silver pull out ariel or a short
Black ariel ...
Silver ariel 8s the old 40mhz system

Short black ariel is the newer 2.4ghz system

Or send it to AT and don't mention it's been modded. If they say anything just say you thought it was supplied like that as new.

I'm not a bait boat person but before you buy a new handset if you could find an owner with a similar boat you try your handset with his and vice-versa, might be problem with the actual boat. If it is the handset then probably more cost effective to replace it?
As I say I'm not bait boat person so this is assuming you can alter the 'tuning' of the handsets?

In my experience you’ll struggle to get anyone other than AT to touch it and as you say AT will be sour because you’ve modded it.

I’ve rung around as many baitboat modders/menders/model shops as I could find and they wouldn’t touch my boat. Give AT a call on Monday and explain, sure they’ll take it on eventually.

Edit.. Howes Models for batteries and bits and bobs, you’ll save money too.

Hi all after a bit of advice if anyone can help! Just acquired a 2nd hand technicat with a transmitter issue or so I am told. The handset only works occasionally so I am looking to either get it fixed or buy a new one, if anyone knows of someone who fixes them I would appreciate it or a pointer in the right direction of one that works if not.

Also not sure what model it is, any way of telling? Lastly

best place for batteries? Need 2 it didn't come with any. Cant send it to AT as it has been modded slightly with a fish finder,
