Totally agree with your post, i can hit 120 yds with 10 ft 2.75tc stalker with 30mil ringing all day long.
50ml guides unless you are a tournament caster are a fad like stainless reel seats that freeze your hands in winter and burn them in summer , and pointed stainless butt caps that pierce your gonads !

The op is after casting 120yds not 220yds

Why kill (put extra unnecessary weight) on the blank for no reason?? Besides that they come with k series guides so a 40 will act like a 50 on line pick up from the reel anyway.

Personally I don't like how high they have shoved the stand off 40mm up the butt section of the blank. It's not picking up the natural intersect point of the line / reel pointing at the rod. I could understand a 30mm k series in that position but not a 40. A lower positioned 40 will extract more power out of the blank as well...Anyhow.. lol

The rod will be capable of so much more with lighter (smaller) rings on and a 30mm butt ring where the 40 is located.

Thanks for that link I hadn't seen that before, luckily I rebuilt my NGs on 50mm though I've got to be honest I did it purly for cosmetic reasons I'd had them 14 year's so they needed a rebuild anyway

The 40mm on my balisters have been fine using 20lb subline and Torny 6ks. However I do think that 50s help with heavier lines.

Worth noting the the C2s come with Fuji-K guides off the shelf, I believe the 40mm Ks are equivalent to 50mm due to the higher stand off.

If you do a forum search for Terry E you'll find on his latest vid he's a advocate of 50's.
Personally I prefer 40's, but that's me.

Cheers lads Iíll stick with 40mm and save the £35 for each rod. Plus couldnít wait the four weeks told to put the bigger rings on.

40mm is perfect for the Basia spool. Itís the width of the spool which makes the coils larger, not the length.👍

I use basiairs with 30mm butt rings on as set of custom built 12ft 6 T's. Never have a problem at all with them in anything up to 0.35mm level line casting.

Imo, 40s will be fine for what you need. Spend the money saved on some bait.

You won't have any problems,I've used basia' with 40millers ok besides 50's are a tarty thing and make the rod heavy, why do rod manufactures put 50's on all off the shelf rods
