I confess to getting a barrow when I started taking my dog with me every trip, even worse I have been known to use it when pike or roach fishing on a day session.

I used to be able to walk my gear to the swim in 1 trip, but with dog food and extra water, I now need a barrow for any overnight trip.

I can now do a single trip with enough gear for a week on my Fox Explorer barrow. Got rid of all the Camolite luggage as was taking way too much with me, and switched to the new Thinking Anglers stuff instead. This forced me to take less. If need a boat, then get a boat that has wheels on it like some of the Bic's do. As long as the ground isn't too bad it is easier to pull that than to faff around with a 50kg+ inflatable, etc.

Hi Paul

I sometimes go back to get the wife, but it depends on what time I get to the venue and how long the session is.
The sex in the bivvy fetish wore off decades ago and she's happy in the car with a good book and a G&T

Best

Jon

I have to blow it up first. See the mat underneath it in the first photo, stops punctures as it's being blown up

The 1st swim on our lake is literally 30 yards from the car park.
It has become my "go to" swim this last year......

Can someone who does two trips actually explain what they take?! Iím genuinely intrigued as I often feel like Iím taking too much with my half a barrow full.

I chuck a rucksack on my back (which could be much lighter) and load the barrow with a bed, brolly, food bag, bucket (or 2), camera bag and the rods.
Iíd have the same gear with me whether I was doing an overnighter in January or a full week in July (chance would be a fine thing), give or take a bit of extra grub & clothing.

My confession is:

I actually make the effort to walk or drive to a toilet now for a dump instead of using a bucket and bag, there is just something special about sitting on a proper toilet with something to read letting the world fall out of my.....****

The 400 acre pit I fish, you can drive all the way round nigh on

Sounds like a dream come true to me that, easy access and got to be some peace and quite

I do envy some of my mates with vans at times, cannot beat the tin bivvy either

Edit - Now that is hardcore Dickweed, I hope thatís not the same all winter 🥶

I have upgraded to a 55 inch brolly from a 50 with no sides, and upgraded from a compact to a full size bedchair for overnighters all year round.

I am really enjoying the extra comfort.

Also use a bedchair groundsheet in the winter as well now.

No extra weight with the new set up and can still carry it the 200 yards to my swim.

I think Iíve spotted your problem Mark. Thatís a boat & is meant to go ďinĒ the water , not round the outside of it.

Carting all that lot, with kit added over a mile, would kill me.
