Most canals night fishing is allowed on all or specific sections.
The full carte de peche seems to cover all of them, as most clubs are in the reciprocal scheme now.
Loads of canals in the Somme, with some big fish too.
Google maps / earth is brilliant for looking at venues.

Good place to start looking.

Iíve fished quite a few of the canals and rivers in the north.

Check out google maps before you go and have at least half a dozen spots in mind as you will find when you get there a lot are inaccessible without a boat (unless you have one of course).

A lot of the tow paths have no entry signs but the locals tend to ignore that. I did ask the guard de peche once too and they didnít seem overly concerned about the signs just told me to ignore them.

If you speak French (or try like I do!) the locals are usually quite forthcoming with information too.

Loads of water with very few anglers and quite a few carp

You can buy the licence for the region you want to fish online or in a tackle shop, tabac when you are out there. Night fishing depends on the canal, river, lake, region there are usually maps with info online. Tons of canals to choose from every one I have looked at looks worth a go

Hi all and HNY

Intending to do something different this year, would like to fish some french canals, and looking for any recommendations for spots/venues, hints tips that maybe if use.
I believe you need a French licence if so where can you get?
Is it true you cannot night fish?

Thanks in anticipation

Nev
