In reply to Post #41 Just found this and got to say their service is great I ordered 2 Torrix custom 9’ cork handled rods nearly £500 and fed ex sent them to a different address, luckily the guy text my number to say they’d been delivered to his by mistake fed ex wouldn’t take blame and wouldn’t offer anything for inconvenience, yet tackle box couldn’t apologise enough even though it clearly wasn’t their fault they offered me £10 off next order as I’d ordered quite a bit of new kit during first lockdown and evaded most of my old gear.

In reply to Post #40 Incredible isn’t it. They have maintained their high standards and customer services throughout that lengthy period of service. Fantastic

In reply to Post #1 The best I've ever dealt with. They nearly always have it in stock and if not had it in quickly. Knowledge of tackle , venues and bait is always excellent and they always have time to talk to you.
The owners Gary and Kevin still work as hard as they did when they started nearly 40 years ago !

In reply to Post #38 I'll 2nd that
I ordered a load of "Bits" from them last Wednesday, a wide selection of general bits - disgorger, small reel, hooklink line, Reel line, Hooks, Floats, feeders, etc................... as I've been building up a full set up for my 6 year old grandson to use.
Had missed a delivery Thursday morning? went to pick it up from the Depot Friday morning- It was the Tackle Box Order!
Brilliant service, and all ordered was in stock

In reply to Post #37 I mail ordered some of their Darent valley rods, the cheaper end of their range and I was amazed how well they were packed and arrived without a couple of days of the order with excellent communication to let me know they had been ordered and sent.
Brilliant service

In reply to Post #36 I agree. Yes sometimes it's true but sometimes you're paying OTT for clever marketing.

In reply to Post #35 Thats not alway true

You get what what you pay for. Buy British lads

Bought some reels from them as a dutch customer. Both broke down after a year. Mailed them, bit back and forth, please send us pictures, and got everything credited. Excellent, excellent service, even for a foreign, marginal customer.

In reply to Post #26 I ordered some rods along with other stuff a few weeks ago, paid £11 for next day delivery. Got a call the day after to say they weren’t actually in stock (plus a couple of other bits weren’t) but were due to come in later that week if I was happy to wait and they would give me a call. Got to the end of the week, no phone call. The following Monday I looked on the website and the rods were listed as out of stock with none expected for a month. Still no phone call so I called them, and was on hold for the best part of 10 minutes whilst being transferred to whoever deals with mail order, who confirmed they had no stock.
I had been considering some other rods anyway (Hi S Barbel specials), so got it confirmed that they had them in stock and bought those instead. Spent £450 more than my original order (750 quid in total), was delivered 10 days after I paid for next day delivery then realised afterwards I’d still been charged the 11 quid for it
So I wouldn’t trust them for mail order again as the online stock list is clearly not updated properly, which isn’t really acceptable in this day and age. I’m sure they’re sound for locals though.

In reply to Post #27 I've used them since I bought my first proper pair of carp rods in the tiny shop in Sutton at hone, had to go outside to give the rods a waggle.😄.
They ain't cheap but they will give you their time and expertise and in my experience will sell you what you need rather than push stuff on you they want to shift.

In reply to Post #26 Me too. Made several orders in last 3 weeks. All delivered within 3 working days. Everything in order. Absolutely reliable. Been using them for years and will continue to do so. Over time the companies who use heavy discounts to sell will always let you down.

In reply to Post #25 I remember the days at the old Sutton at hone shop that regulars got a decent discount 🤔

Just thought I’d say I’ve just had some fantastic mail order service from TB again 👍

In reply to Post #23 Point taken
In reply to Post #24
I've used the Tacklebox on and off since their days when they had a small shop at Sutton At Hone, used to enjoy their start of season 'do's' on the 15th of June and went on some of their Les Quis trips
Only criticism I've always had is they mostly stock the more expensive brands at RRP.
What I did find nice is I went in there after a few years and although Gary couldn't remember my name he took the time to say hello

Hi..Took a drive over there from Dunstable in the summer as I was after a CFX 10ft spod rod and maybe a reel too. Have to say I was mighty impressed. Gary took time to discuss pros and cons of the rod over the DV and CFX Black alternative and reel choice too. Lee was full if life as usual lol. Definately a dangerous shop to visit .
I know I could have gone down mail order route , but I really wanted to see the rod(s) in the flesh before paying out.
Lets hope they ride and survive the current trend for closures
Regards Andy

In reply to Post #22 The point I’m making is the shop staff actually read my instructions and made the effort to call me to arrange an alternative. I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve had to go to a collection centre to pick up missed parcels. That one phone call has saved me from doing that and means I have it for fishing Friday
They could have just stuck a label on a box and give it to the parcel company and then we know what happens..trip to the collection depot

|
In reply to Post #19 The reason for giving it to a neighbour was the local delivery didn't want to take it back to the depot and try a redelivery another day, they don't get paid extra for that.
To be fair isn't it to do with the performance of the courier company rather than the shop?
I often read on here about shops that have given great service when in fact all they've done is stuck your address on a box and the courier has done the rest.
Still the main thing is you're happy

In reply to Post #18 I must say im very impressed with them.
Ordered yesterday morning its coming today without the extra postage charge, i left some delivery instructions when ordering, they phoned me up within 20 mins of doing so saying the couldn't leave it where i instructed and would it be ok to leave with a neighbor.
I will defiantly be using them a lot more, the dangerous thing is i could prob drive there in about 20-25 mins

Great feedback
Never been, never will, but I have ordered stuff from them in the past, their catalogue, alongside Leslie’s of Luton which came close was one of, if not the best. Carp gear porn
Nice to see that a good shop is still around and not just another big corporate, guess there is still the personal touch. Used to love going to my local shop as a kid, top advice

In reply to Post #6 Why not shoot them a message on fb or call them in the morning before you order?
Saying that. Everything I've ordered from the website has been in stock, not once have I been let down.

Just had a look on their website. They are saying they have the Tempest brolly infill, before I order are they reliable or am I going to get an email in the morning saying they will let me know when I’m stock?

In reply to Post #1 Not the cheapest but they are the best
They have immediately sorted out every (legitimate) issue that I have ever had - and the issues were with the Royal Mail and Free Spirit not the TB!!
Mind you, they gave me rubbish service when I dropped in during an England World Cup game 🏴 😂👍

After receiving some excellent service from The Tackle Box I thought it was worthy of a thread on here. All too often people are moaning about one thing or another but rarely do you see praise.
Anyway, one of my Darent Valley rods (amazing value for money btw) had a run in with a bush and ultimately a footpath a couple of weeks ago and unsurprisingly lost. I thought it was only the tip ring casing that had been damaged so sent The Tackle Box a message via fb to enquire about ring size, intending to try fixing it myself.
An hour later I received a reply offering me a couple of free tip rings with only a couple of quids postage to pay. Not bad at all I thought. A day later the rings turned up but on closer inspection the tip was ****ed beyond repair.
A further message to enquire about replacement tips was replied to instantly with the offer of a free section if I paid the postage. Being an honest chap I ensured to make them aware that the damage occurred purely because of my own ineptitude but they insisted on me paying nothing.
A couple of days later the tip turned up in a damaged cardboard tube and after unwrapping it one of the rings had been smashed to pieces. Nice work UPS .
Embarrassingly, after such good service so far, I had to send The Tackle Box yet another message explaining the situation. The very next day yet another tip section tuned up at no extra cost whatsoever.
I honestly haven’t had service so good for a very long time. They went out of their way to help me as much as possible, despite not making any money out of me at all.
Sorry for rambling but I think it’s well and truly deserved.
