Had a fish kill in the last couple of years I’m told
The biggest one went belly up
Not sure how many were lost
It’s still chocker full of carp though

In broadhurst think the biggest goes mid 30s with 2 back up 30s exact stock I’m not sure of tho. I’ll probably stay away from broadhurst at least till winter when the banks are quieter if it’s a busy as people are saying.
Been told both mill and bh are currently spawning

Recently joined Isfield, have yet to explore the lakes but Broadhurst was on the radar, anyone know what the carp stocks are like and what they go up to?

Haven't asked anyone else, this was my first port of call as saw the thread.

Thought I’d drop onto harock for the night but there’s a sign in the car park saying carp spawning. Good to see others taking this on board and knowone fishing it. So ended up at firtol just for a overnighter

Agreed Joe But I’m talking a few years ago prior to Broadhurst being opened up, swim wise
During the winter months Only 3 or 4 would be the norm on a Saturday night
3 rods would have been fine back then
Some places do a 3 rod rule from November and it works
Can you imagine Harrack with a 3 rod rule this time of year 😵

I think the problem is the lakes get so busy and if they did allow 3 rods per angler is just too many lines

2 rods only as Joe said
They would not allow the use of a 3rd When the matter was raised
Because they thought it would encourage the use of a 4th

Sadly they don’t shut the venues If they are spawning
It’s a good idea But needs policing Venue specific it could be done easily
Unfortunately they don’t GAS
They have good Pike on a few venues BUT don’t GAS on the welfare aspect
Too many older people in command who don’t fish anymore
Need to pass on the reins But won’t!!!

A match club who are anti carp anglers.

Rough banksides, non existent swims, poor bailiffing.

No not buxted hotel. It’s harrock house. Lovely little lake with fish to around 30lb but some lovely fish in there. I fished it more about 10yrs ago when it was less busy but usually went in winter and had the place to myself always done well on there but anymore than 4 people then don’t bother. I did fish it last October and had a few but just gets too busy

Years ago they had in that area:
Highlands Framfield, Bushmere Blackboys, Fairhazel Uckfield, Barrets Farm Heathfield.
Probably more but those are the ones I can remember.

That’s right, Keith was his name. I remember he walked into my swim and I had 3 rods out and a little radio on, he just smiled and asked how I was!
The Firtoll Baliff caught me doing a similar thing and wasn’t so friendly or forgiving! 😂

Haha, I was about 12 and I think the steps up to the lake finished me off! I remember catching Tench but no Carp unfortunately.

I used to spend loads of time at the Mill Pond during my school holidays, managed a 20 and a few upper teens too. I remember the bailiff was a really nice bloke who kept it looking great.

I was down in East Grinstead with work a few months ago and had a little look at Wilderness, all of the bottom end is now fenced off.

Yes it was indeed! You lightweight, jumping straight in the sundial swim, it’s the first one you come to lol!
Only joking mate, was a cracking lake about 20 odd years ago when I last fished it. I used to fish for the tench that were in abundance there, with light carp rods and home rolled Tuttis, was great sport.
Enjoyed my time on the Millpond too, had my first ever 20+ carp there!

Was a member 25 years ago it as a great little club and had some excellent waters, one was an ornamental lake in someone’s garden half chock a block with lilies. You had to book in advance and park in a public car park then hike to the lake, undergrowth and topography not suitable for a trolley or barrow. Quite surreal fishing at markers that were Roman statues. Only ever saw another angler on close season opening day 😀

Evening all,

Does anyone have any info on the Isfield angling club waters? There are no details on their website. Not after massive fish, just somewhere peaceful with some nice old carp to aim for.

Do PM me if you would prefer.

Many thanks in advance.
