Is it possible to start another section titled whats the best.......... and then those that do these can click away to their hearts content

Trouble is carp fishing is reaching its pinnacle in terms of innovations and ideas, must pop out and buy some blue tent pegs , the price of new stuff is now becoming silly and people will wise up eventually and the silliness will stop.

How do you spice up an established forum, thats a hard one as those that like it the way it is and will drift away, to much bling will drive them away and yet it has to change and evolve naturally, so it is what it is!

How about a closed thread for people to put forward ideas on new, changing or personalising standard equipment without the fear that the big boys (companies) will steal or plagiarise the adaptions. i don't know if this can be done but a place to discuss possibilities and with some advice from engineers, CAD people would be helpful.

There's been loads of easier to use fishing forums but most of them have gone now.
Most of those people that have been here a while don't seem to have much problem, take Ken for example he's an old codger (sorry Ken) but his posts are full of pics and quality.
Seems it's the new members who rely on smart phones that have the problem.
I'm not an IT expert but my guess is that it would be such an upheaval you'd have to close the forum down and start again, wouldn't want to chance that, you could end up with yet another closed forum

Good point, there are far more 'user friendly' forum formats available today. Probably a massive ballache to change it over though

I enjoy the forum and love clicking on and reading thing I have no interest in doing, like bait making etc.

The constant, "what's the best . . . . ." threads get a little boring but that's more of a reflection upon those posting. We all know there's no best single rod / reel / bivvy etc, it's all personal opinion and budgets.

There's always going to be a few who like winding others up behind a keyboard but sadly that's the modern world of social media, nobody has to take responsibility for anything

I think I get where you’re coming from, is “Stale” the word you’re looking for?

There is the odd thread that gets a good discussion going, in general it seems most things to do with just Carp Fishing of late has got sort of Lazy, don’t think it’s any problem with the forum thou.

If anyone thinks some sort of “Guess” something to win something per month would help, I’d be happy to sort something out. The forum to me is a bit of an escape for a bit from working – would be glad to give something back.

Agree

I think the mods on here do a good job. I’ve seen a lot of forums go under due to the fact that a lot of Neanderthal’s can’t hold a conversation or post anything decent, usually a few exchanges, then somebody’s a **** and the next time they see them they have had it

I think they are very lenient in the football thread but would not tolerate it in the general discussions, it seem to be accepted in there, bunch of ****ing monkeys in that thread anyway and it’s accepted

I guess some people have fell out of love with carpfishing, some have been banned and tbh I can see why and some have decided to ban themselves lol. Myself I think social media is the biggest problem. Face ache, my life’s better than your etc. Kind of fits in with the modern scene, bragging, bull**** and falling out.

I hope this forum keeps going, filters out the chaff and gets some good discussions going, again, it does have some thought provoking stuff now and again

How do you use the forum?
I use the 'Read Next' button and just keep on clicking that button until I fall on something interesting and then give it my attention. By doing this I skip most of the threads but that's not a problem, I only need a handful of threads to keep me interested
Another thing is I use a laptop or PC, you can do so much more with them than a mobile phone. Sometimes you can tell when someone is using a mobile. loads of wrongly autocorrected words and advice given such as 'mate do a google scroll down to the bottom and click on there'.
That's someone's interpretation of providing a link

Having said that the forum is doing ok

PS
Let Steve back and OG come back soon

Why do you think it is dying?
A fresh injection of what, may I ask?

I thought that the CF was running OK.
I know some of the good contributors like Gerry and Steve are having a bit of time away from here ATM.

Mods please do not lock/move be gods do what you do.
Is it just me or has this forum run its life. I cannot remember the last a spoke to karlos. Dont know if he still fishes or not. Most mods on here are only here to act as demi gods(ask jerry) he will tell you.
Under my user name ive only been a member for 11 years in other names alot longer.
I find it a shame that the forum is dying on its knees. Needs a reel (haha) fresh injection
