A bit like a vastly improved version of the old nash bike chain jobbies. But still have the sensitivity of a regular chain such as a solar hanger?

Does the marine stainless cord act like a chain or like a springer?

Think you mean a Banshee Chord, once in a "U" shape it just become a totally windproof Hanger.

Bit of a random question - what size are the grub screws?
Have my pod arriving shortly and didn't think to ask. Want to make sure I have a hex driver/key to fit (although I would presume they're a fairly standard size/nothing very unusual)

Cheers,
James.

I’ve got the Titanium Leopard with the grubs rew fittings making it very streamlined. It was a custom build size wise and features the screw tipped banksticks enabling additions such as augers and state stage stand feet to be fitted.

I’ve noticed it doesn’t feature on Keith’s website so I don’t know if it has been discontinued or superseded but it’s a cracking bit of kit.

I have the trident and having a centre bar does not bother me re indicators. Neither is it unstable whatsoever.

But you'd need to order what you're happy with, all in my opinion of course

Last question (thanks for your help) can anyone give me feedback on post 97 please ie. Is it worth getting 2 center shafts, so the indicators won't touch the middle bar and will it make the pod more stable?

I have been using the merlins for 6 months and they are indeed excellent in all weather.

I was unsure whether to get merlin or banshee as they seemed functionally similar so I asked Keith and he recommended merlin.

I've recently converted to the merlin chords from traditional chains, they are brilliant and I fished blustery conditions without a single wind beep first time of using. Look good too! Me (and one of my kids) did manage to damage one (or two ) by pulling on the chord instead of the fitting when removing them from their fitment, so just something to consider if you are a rough arse

These are fitted with the mk1 mag heads in the size that Keith recommends on his website

I was looking at The Banshee.. Do you think the chain is better than a cord, I thought the metal cord would be less likely to move in the wind ?

"The Trident Tiger is basically a Trident Panther with twin Centre Shafts fitted.

Made to exactly the widths, specifications and build options as a Trident Panther"

Is it worth getting the Tiger so I can avoid the indicators touching the center shaft and will it be more stable?

How does the center shaft come off in the Panther, can you leave most of it set up and unscrew the center shaft or do you have to slide it off ? Also would you recommend having the cross shafts the same width front and back?

These things do happen. But im sure it wasn't about it not being a bigger order than a 2 rod pod.
In the past i have had a 2 rod trident made
And a single order of some hawk hangers
He even sent me a reinforced pole for my aqualite when one broke. Wouldnt take any money.

And ive never met the bloke.

OK, you sent PM's, and gave Keith your email address after he requested it and Keith didnt get back you with a price ... so yes I think it is harsh to call him out on it publicly without at least giving him a chance to rectify this with a reminder (telephone call maybe?) .... It isnt ideal customer service but it happens. Having dealt with him a few times I would be very surprised if it was a lack of order value that influenced him.

Hi Jim, no mate they are Spherical Ball Joints (Used on amasses of things) the same ones I used 15 years ago on the Original “River pod” problem was it was all 316 Stainless, you can imagine what it weighed with being so big.

Braders: I don’t do business on a “Forum” if anyone contacts me on here; I ALWAYS ask them to send me an email. I will have asked you to do the same.

I've never had a problem ordering from Keith to be perfectly honest. I've just had some new stuff recently including the titanium river pod kit, lovely that is too! I think when you delve into handmade gear that's not mainstream and mass produced, you need to realise the people have lives outside of making us some tackle! Saying that I've never not had a timely reply, only time I didn't get one actually was when Keith's email address had changed, but the new one was on website, I'd just not looked (and it was a new enquiry).

As for those ugly designs no one wants...

I guess the rear ones can stay in the cross shaft
But the front ones will have to be loose. And then their is the three long shafts. So it does take a bit more putting together.

"Additionally it is a little bit of a faff to set up"

Is that setting up the whole thing ?

I was thinking it would be straight forward if I kept the bank sticks all set up.

Don't you just screw the long pole joints in to connect front an back ?

Yes I've got the compact Fantail. What a great bit of kit.
It does seem a bit 'faffy' if only going for a few hours, especially when first used, but you soon get used to it.

I'm using a titanium fantail - use it as single sticks mainly but happy with it when I have used it as a pod. Much more versatile than a normal pod and nice to be able to point the rods at the baits.

The only 'issues' I've found is that if the rods are spread too much that the butts hit each other/overlap making it a little difficult to lift into a fish. Additionally it is a little bit of a faff to set up (compared to my old fox x-pod).

The new century pod looks exactly like the custom angling solutions pod, could it be they make the century ones?

On another note after a few years not fishing or frequenting the forum ive been catching up on the
Current trends. These korda singlz look like an MPS trident without the centre shaft.

If ive understood the video its a right faff. Pilot holes, digging sticks, undoing that stick and attaching it elsewhere and finally using stabilisers anyway. Sod that.

Im still using the original stainless s type. Made a bit wider on the front cross shaft
And quite short sticks. Must b over 15 years and as new.

Wide as its 3 rod but I mostly use 2 and low and stable . Left setup in my unhooking mat
Takes a few seconds to screw in the centre shaft , and your away.

What is the waiting times these days?

I rather fancy a titanium fantail to go with all the other pods I have...

Does anyone use the Fantail?

I had a hobbit pod off Keith a few years back so I know the craftsmanship is second to none I’m just wondering how people are finding the fantail?

Yep still do. A carbon trident pod and a small pair of his carbon 2 rod bars. Cover everything I need except a tips high situation. Rock solid when set up for locked up fishing. I lost a few of the plastic thumb screws on it several years ago and Keith sent a full set of titanium ones too replace. Don't ever see me changing unless it gets nicked, a titanium fantail would be ordered straight away

"his indicators and the new merlins"

If I buy these, can we add (screw on) extra weights if we need them?

I have been using bobbins with a bit of cord for the last 15 years and would like
something that doesn't flap around in the wind now :0)

When you do get through to Keith FFS don’t mention dodgy internet if you are calling on a mobile. By the the time you’ve finished with his rant it will cost you more than the pod!

Only kidding, Keith is spot on with his customers. Don’t forget, he’s got to make the stuff, answer questions, take new orders etc on his own.

You are buying a bespoke hand made article which doesn’t quite fit into today’s instant ‘I Want It NOW’ culture. What you are buying is worth waiting for

Nowt to do with his business personally, just a happy customer with a few years old Leopard pod.

Do any of you guys know if Defiant MPS are still trading? Can’t find their website and I’ve had an email bounce back.
Desperate for a replacement bobbin!

Thanks Dave
