In reply to Post #21 i use the 12 foots in 3.25tc and i think its the perfect all round for what i need at this time. can easily put a lead/bag 100yard but still has the softness when playing a fish and great at absorbing the lunges. to be honest for the price they are the best rods i have bought , the only time they are not used is when I'm on a smaller lake and the 9fts come out but tx2's are well worth the money !

I'm looking to buy 3 TX2 rods in 12' and need to decide whether 3.00 or 3.25 TC.
These will be paired with Shimano XTR-A LC medium baitrunners.
Maximum distance fished to date is 80 yards but it would be good to be able to get to 100 yards.
I'm using 3 oz leads and my current 2.75 TC rods get me there with a hook bait but if I add a small PVA mesh with a few boilies I don't get there and recently adopted using small PVA bags and I was worried about giving it too much welly with a weight approaching 5 ozs.
Local Angling Direct suggested some people buy 2 @ 3.00 and 1 @ 3.25 but I'm thinking I would prefer 3 rods at the same TC.
Interested to hear what people think especially anyone who has used the TX2 12' in 3.00 or 3.25 TC. Thanks

Just bought a set of these (13ft intensity) they look and feel great. Best factory made rod I've purchased by far!!!!
Quick question, all of the tip sections have minor marks on them?? They look like little chips/scratches in the carbon but they're not deep and look like they maybe common considering they're on all 3??? I can't work out if the tip sections are varnished (dony think they are)....... I'm just hoping it is common and wont affect the rods in the future. Anyone seen anything similar in there's??? Cheers.

How are people finding these rods?
Looking at the 12ft 3.25 so they can be used for solid bags etc if needed.
Would the 3.25 still be nice to play fish on or a bit of a broom stick

In reply to Post #14 I understand that bud I’m not overly bothered about the clip
See the biggest lake I will fish is about 10 acres furthest I have to cast at the very most is 80yards, 100yards if the opposite swim was free but wouldn’t really want to fish like that anyway. But I do like using small bags at around 18 wraps so might look at getting the 3.25 then instead

In reply to Post #13 I was only using the ESP barrel bobbins without the weights and they were enough to ping the clip but like I said that was in this super warm weather and lets be honest on a rod in this price bracket it is more a token gesture by the manufacturer to of added a line clip I didn't even know they had them until they turned up, you could always use one of the two clip on options from Fox "although other brands are available" which would not detract from the rod especially at their price point.
Based on 100yrds fishing I would say that is about as far as I would want to push the 3lb although they would probably cope, past this coupled with slightly heavier leads and small bags I would go for the 3.25 test, I already have rods for that job if the situation arises and I purposely bought the 3lb test for a 12 acre syndicate lake I have joined coupled with Fox FX9 reels as the fish are relatively new stock between teens to high twenties I wanted to enjoy the fight a bit more rather than my heavier rods killing all the enjoyment, they do everything I need of them for this venue.

In reply to Post #11 I was thinking of getting the 3lb or 3.25lb would you say 100 yards is a distance they can deal with ease? See I do want the line clip so I might have to modify it slightly then I’ll be using Korda stows which don’t weigh much so hopefully won’t ping out to often lol

I have a set of Shimano TX2 12' 3lb test coupled with Fox FX9 reels for all my fishing up to 100yrds they have 50mm ringing, they are a lovely action to play fish on but the line clips are not the best especially in this warm weather as they are a plastic clip and soften slightly with the heat the line pings out under tension after a while, I have had to put a wrap of black insulation tape around them I cut the width of the tape in half first and added it at the base of the clip this seems to of solved the problem in this warm weather, they were fine through the winter/spring.
It is only the second set of Factory built Shimano rods I have ever owned and for the money you can pick them up for now they are David Dickinson but feel a bit more quality in the hand considering the price

In reply to Post #9 I own a set of tx9 intensities, I know it's not the rods in question but I cannot fault them. I have owned various shimano rods over the years from feeder rods, float rods and two sets of carp rods and they have all been brilliant. As with all big brands, if you wait for a year or so after release the price plummets. I paid around £450 for my tx9's (three rods) as the tx9 ultras had been released and I consider that a bargain as the k series guides would be £50 a rod alone.
