I have fished Christchurch in winter and spring. On every occasion the fish have been active but in the upper layers. It is nearly a total waste of time fishing there Since the zig ban.

I've no idea mate, I certainly wouldnt let it put you off a trip - like i say its got a great feeling about the place in spring, hard to explain. I'd certainly go light on the bait at this time of year, you still see people hammering it in regardless.

This time of year is ALWAYS busy up Linch. Its got a great feel to it at this time of year, however in my somewhat limited experience its a frustrating time to fish the place (now that the zig ban is in place). Deep, cold, clear water and sunny days/ high pressure = fish popping up to the top all over. Its still does fish, but it is vertainly a peggy time of year for bottom bites

Spot on Bristol, 1st time I've been to linch hill, nothing negative at all to say about the place, nice people, and you can see the fish so at least you know there are plenty in there. I fished smellys which is peg 40 on willow, lost one from the left margin. Apart from silt and gravel patches half way out I couldn't find any weed, lots of fish in front of the reeds swim although very weak patches of bubbles and very few fish jumping, crashing or rolling, hopefully they weren't feeding well or I am just crap. Bloke fishing the other side of the island had 4 fish to 29lb.Much more personal than linear so credit to them for that.

I think smellys is one of the pegs on the bank that leads up to Christchurch. If so a lot of fish have come from the deep margins in the past A rod to the island would also be a shout

Peg 40on Willow. Not sure how strict that rule is but he does seem a decent helpful guy.
