It is a shame that the fish get damaged, just goes to show the lack of care.
Also should mention there was also a dead fish floating in swim 1 on Sunday.
Hopefully nothing contagious!
I think we will try to get back on there late summer if available.

I'm surprised to read this. I reckon of about 30ish fish I've seen recently out of there I can only recall 1 with with bad mouth damage.

Of the 5 fish I witnessed on the bank, I think 4 had mullered mouths, but from years gone by. Theyíve seen a hell of a lot of action and they scrap hard so Iím not surprised a few have suffered damage as itís hard to police the level of angler you get on there Iver so many years

Of the six, three of us caught, a 20 on the Friday night, 22 the Saturday night and I had a 26 last night.
A few shows in the evenings but really quiet to be honest.
Wasnít as cold as we thought so wouldíve thought a couple more couldíve been had.
A good social and a venue we hope to fish again.
My fish had bottom lip been savaged by someone which is a shame to see, especially when youíve heard so much regarding the quality of the fish stock.

Just finished up on Blue Pool this morning. I total we saw 5 fish on the bank between 5 of us. 22lb, 24lb, 24lb 4oz, 30lb and 30lb 2oz.
Pegs were 17/18 - 18 LH margin producing one 30 and open water 17 producing another 30.
Peg 7 saw one 24lb common from the LH treeline and 24lb mirror from open water towards the island.
Peg 12A produced the 22 mirror from the corner of the island.
There were a few fish in the Ďaquariumí area but the majority seemed to be in open water in between 6/7 and 17. Quite quiet in the day then plenty rolling and showing from about 6pm onwards. A lighter baiting approach seemed to produce the bites however a bigger area of bait out in that open water could well have worked last night in particular when they seemed to roll quite regularly through the night.
Those fish sure do scrap!

Hope to get back next year in slightly more productive months when the fish are more spread out and hopefully everyone banks some

Thatís good to know

I was actually invited to get my name down when they first got the rights to the main lake. There were so many rumours that I thought 500 quid a year was too much to lose if some of the rumours were true.
Now it seems like itís ok I regret saying know. The waiting list is currently closed as itís 9yrs long roughly

A mate fished a couple of weekends ago. One guy had 4 fish (including a 35lber) while the rest blanked, so suspect they're grouping up already.

Itís got good winter form mate. From what I was told by the bailiffs, make sure you do spread out as theyíll squeeze into any areas not covered fairly quickly.

We were recommended a cafe near the Sainsbury's a few minutes from the pool but it doesn't open till late so we just ended up going in Sainsbury's. If anyone knows of any decent ones would appreciate a heads up. Back out in October, can't wait.

Only fished it the once a couple of years ago but caught my current PB from there, and have plans to go back next year. Awesome lake, and those carp fighting in that clear water is one of the best fishing experiences ever.

4 of us did 72 hours and had a great time, i would recommend 4 but 5 at max so you have plenty of options.

Peg 7 finished on 3 fish all caught from the tree line margin and had a 29lb common and a couple mid 20 mirrors

peg 12 finished on 8 fish with 2 coming from the Korda spot and 6 off the island. 7 x 20's and 1 double

Peg 20 finished on 5 fish 1 x 30 3 x 20's and 1 double. 1 came out of the margin and 4 came off the plateau in 7ft of water

peg 1 unfortunately blanked

no fish were lost

during the session the lake was very cloudy as the weed was breaking up on the main lake and gave off a bloom which fed into the blue pool which was a shame as we didn't experience blue pool for what its famous for. it was very hot as well and because of the cloudy water it definitely affected potential floater fishing and we were told several times they love a floater. Matt the bailiff is an absolute gem and coudln't do enough to offer advice. we caught during the day and night. typically the lake starting to clear on our last day but we will definitely return next year and hopefully get the gin clear water we wanted.

i'm on this Thursday for 3 nights mate so will let you know. i have been speaking to one of the bailiffs and there is no going bait and he has advised fish for a bite and dont heavy on the bait unless the fish are on it. bating pole is a big advantage for some of the swims so you can get right under the trees and overhanging bushes.

McDonald's is near there (just off junction 12). There's a burger van or two down the a4 from Newbury can't think of any others off the top of my head. However Mortimer cafe is very good and some local take always in tilehurst deliver to that area (well they did when I used to fish Pingewood).

No Sally's cafe is shut now, but there is a good cafe in Mortimer.

Fished a 72 over the weekend, and it fished hard. Nothing came out for almost 24 hours, but we ended up with 6 carp to 24lb14, and a 8lb5 tench. It seemed to get better over time.

My advice would be to spread round the lake. They tend to just head for any area where there is no pressure. It's fairly weedy in places and peg 1/2 you can't get to the snags. But the weed does come away easily, so it's worth taking a small weed rake, just in case you want to clear a bit.

Even though it was hard going, i enjoyed the challenge, and would go back again.

I think I know that lake you refer to-"it looks the dogs but think of the noise though. I once fished a 1.5 Acre lake in someones back garden that had large koi and mirrors in. Only thing was though, they were trying to set me up with their ex daughter in law who lived on the property. Never went back.

Sounds similar to a lake I've walked on a property the sultan of Brunei owns nr heathrow. I asked to fish it, gamekeeper replied yeah if you fancy getting shot...

Not fished syndicates just club waters however they are effectively doubling the price of the summer ticket so the principle remains the same. I know that if all our club members descended on all of our waters at once there wouldn't be enough swims. Even on 8 lakes, and the pressure on those who had a swim would make it very unpleasant fishing.

I suppose it depends on the size of the venue, and the amount of members.
Many syndicates operate a twin rota system, one week on, one week off throughout the the warmer months, then around Sept-Oct the rotas merge.
The other way of looking at it, if the venue isn't seeing many anglers, the fish aren't seeing much bait.

I appreciate what people are saying about not using tickets and preventing people from fishing venues. However if everyone who had a ticket fished even 1 day every week, the rest of the members would soon get peed off, with having no swims available. The only answer is to push up the price of the tickets, but that would make them unfeasible. for the average joe. So all I am really saying is be aware of what you want, and what you wish for. After all when you get that dream ticket do you really want the place ranmed out when you arrive?

Bloody shame mate, there is a water i know of on an estate, i did some work there, which is how i came to know about it. I am in constant contact with the owners, i keep asking them if i can fish it but, they sort of don't take me seriously. It is a 5 acre boating lake in the grounds of their property.

It's paradise, i've walked around it, a few times, there is some real big fish in there, nobody has touched the place in thirty years apart from when they have firework parties etc.
I know at least three other people are trying to gain permission too. The main problems are, there is no easy access to the lake, you would have to drive right through the main part of the property to get to the lake.
The lake is a long way from the nearest road too but, the main hurdle is the game keeper, he doesn't want anybody on that part of the land, day or night. I've tried to reason with him but, he won't have it.

I did have a lovely place to fish, not too far from me, a similar set up, the owners are non fisherman but, they let friends and family fish there, i got to know them through working there. There was only me and two other people fishing it. It was lovely, until poachers started visiting. They did damage to the fences and property, we used to repair everything to keep the owners onside.
The poachers never took fish or anything, they just caused damage because access was difficult. One weekend, poachers were caught by members of the family, and there was aggro. That was the end of it for us, all spoiled because of a few selfish, careless people.

That's one of the reasons i get annoyed, when i see people boasting of their poaching exploits on here.
I hope you get a result with your place mate, don't give up, i have gained access to a few waters over the years, simply by politely asking.
If you do get access, tell nobody, and keep it to yourself mate, i know it sounds selfish but, that's how you have to be nowadays

There's a classic near me. And by near I mean I can almost see it from the window and could walk the barrow there in under 5 minutes. If what I've heard is true the stock is insane.
It's been almost impossible to find any info on the place other than a few old internet posts saying its dead mans shoes. The runs water next door seems to be the waiting list for the main lake... someone I met a few times waited 10 years to get on the runs water but has been told that there's pretty much no hope of him ever fishing the other

I walk past the gate regularly and have only ever seen 2 cars. What an unbelievable waste.

You're right mate, i was in the cons back in the 80's for about 15 years, it was the same then. To be fair though, a lot back then, including myself, had a few good tickets, and were spoiled for choice, i did fish them though.

It's even worse when sponsored anglers hold those tickets - They don't even pay for them themselves

At one time I knew four people that had tickets for The Cons and never fished it in years, just so wrong.

Yes, it does free up space, so every cloud etc.
Better than the situation where you have people that hold a ticket to an exclusive water, yet never fish it, and sometimes don't intend too but, will not let the ticket go. This is very common.

Makes me wonder how some people get into fishing in the fiest place?

The lake would have been empty for the 2 extra days as it's an exclusive booking. They would have lost out in £400 for the two extra days.

I can't help thinking that they'll run out of places to go with that attitude and probably pack it all in.
As someone else said, at least it frees up what sounds like a great ticket for someone who'll really appreciate it.
Personally I only fish water where I like to be regardless of the size of fish they may contain, I long ago realised that it was no harder to catch a forty than a double once they're in front of you.

I reckon it's a good thing, free's up space for other people that want to have a go.

I have lost count of the amount of times I have read ''I will never give up that ticket as long as I live even if I don't fish it'' easy to see why some tickets are hard to get.

I must admit, I was surprised they moved on. If we matched their results over the 3 days we are on in August, there will be a couple of very happy anglers, with the rest of us made up for the guys that caught.

Yeah, that's hard for some of us to understand, including me, sure i like big fish but, it's still very much about the fishing for me.
Some want to be like Jim Shelley, Terry Hearn etc, and just target a certain fish, and move on.

There is a lot of nice syndicates around my way, one in particular is a superb fishery, with a good head of big nice looking carp in it.

Two years ago, a pair of new anglers were doing well on there, between them they caught the four biggest fish in the venue, although there are a lot of big fish in there, these four fish were much bigger.
Anyway, as soon as they had both caught the four fish, which to be fair, was very good angling, they announced, they wouldn't be joining the following year.

Apparently somebody said there's still a lot of fish in here to go at, including a lot of 40's, they said, we're not interested in 40's???

I know fishing means different things to different people but, i find that really sad.

Which just goes to show the expectations of carp anglers these days, two great fish in just 48 hours and they move off to another water.

While I was at Gold Lake (start of this month) there were 5/6 on BP. Think in 48 hours they managed 4 or 5 fish with a 35 and 34 among them. They also lost a few. They did have the lake for another 48 but decided to head elsewhere.

I'm there in a couple of weeks so I'll update you on how we get on.

I'm at gold lake (the other side of Blue Pooks fence) next week, so I'll try and chat to the guys on BP and see how its fishing.

Anyone fished it recently. I noticed a blogger fished it in April and the water was really coloured. Hope it will be him clear for the margins. Due to go in August so any feedback would be great to know
