Quiet a few years ago I I usually fished the clone valley lakes but was looking for something a closer to home,
After reading about Linford I decided to have a look round.
I parked on a lane and took a public footpath through the lakes as I wanted to see the lakes.

After 5-10 minutes I was approached by a guy who arrived on a quad bike in a threatening manner,
He literally jumped of his quad bike, grabbed a shotgun and Pointed it towards my face shouting what am I doing on his land, as I tried to explain I was just following a public footpath and my reasons for being there
He screamed “ I Don’t give a F@uk why you are here, get off my land or they will have to carry you off”

As you can imagine me and my 10 year old son where terrified and left,
Only now I have come to realise it was this convicted thug Dave Marle
As you can guess I have bever been back since.

It’s a small world and I just hope this lunatic gets everything he deserves,

Bring back Amey Roadstone. They knew how to run the complex.

Could have been such a good complex but now unfortunately one of the worst

Personally I wouldn't buy a debenture or any ticket available until the complex is sold and new owners make what's left available after a good tidy up and a **** load of otter fencing......

I used to fish the complex 20 odd years ago before it went to the silly money life member costs. Was thinking about going again as it brings back fond memories but am not buying a debunture until someone knows for sure what's going on there. Keep us posted please. Thanks

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out in the future that mr Marle is found face down in one of his lakes after an unfortunate accident. You can't treat people like that and not upset some nutter who holds a debenture. Things always catch up with you in the end. Treat people right and get treated right I say.

i make that a very fair representation.

River is dayticket now.

Poplar lake practically unfishable, Alder needs urgent management. Its a 3 lake complex now and has been for a long time.

Loads of clips on YouTube. Going through them all now. They should do a modern version of this match.

Whilst he was trying to sell more debentures David Marle actually followed through on his promises of mirroring a golf club with a decent clubhouse with members bar and resident professional (first Clive Diedrich and latterly Tim Hodges), this in my mind was the golden period when the complex rivalled anything else in the country
Then came the yearly tickets, the day tickets, the match canal, tackle thefts and scrotes wandering around unchallenged and let's not forget Marles puppet "bailiffs" who can apparently do whatever they like on site (except of course act as proper bailiffs)
The clubhouse bar went, the resident pro went , the roads became all but impassable due to no maintenance what so ever, the day ticket waters were stocked with fish taken from our waters and all without any notice being given or consultation with the members, who were treated with contempt and threatened with a life ban if they dared to question what was going on. Most of the original members left years ago as did I.
Now as a final insult to the remaining debenture holders he's going to sell off as much as he can to developers ,and what he can't sell he'll rent out to day tickets, until one of the debenture holders starts a legal challenge to recover the cost of the membership , at which point his daughter and son in law will probably declare the management company insolvent , meaning the remaining members loose the right to fish there and all their money.

Another 2 lakes have gone to day ticket but before they did they were fished by the bailiffs for a few seasons and what got caught got moved into other lakes! It's a shambles.

fathead_wattsy - The Angling Masters was the competition you mentioned, I fished the Junior Masters in '97. Was a massive event with big sponsorship and Sky Sports filming the whole thing.

In what was has it all gone down hill? Mental to hear that the rumours about Mr Marle were true

Cant remember the terms but it used to be that a min of £2000 was to be paid to holder's in the event of them being stopped etc. Probably best to ask the question to see.

This has been probably been changed over the years though and small print not what it used to be on original agreement........

Youll pick one up for £1200 plus fees no problem

I was talking to a a bloke bankside who seems to think the debenture system is going to be pulled perhaps as soon as March. Where this leaves the members I v no idea ... out of pocket I suspect.
