When we fished it back in the day there were loads of big tench and roach in there. Never saw a carp but that doesn't mean they weren't there. Mind you, any we'd have seen back then would be by now!

Well that's down from £1,000 last year then.

I'm guessing that none of the rumoured uncaught monsters got caught then, or if they did they certainly didn't get publicised! TBF it's a huge lake, even with a fair bit of pressure, which I doubt it gets, fish could go uncaught for many years.

I was over at Yateley Angling this afternoon. There was a bunch of leaflets in one of the boxes by the entrance door talking about this place - says the price is £600 a year for two lakes, available from 01 April.

Yep, 15 quid per year and a mate who had work experience in an office, photocopied a permit and gave copies to our little gang.

Very ironic lol
My club had given up there stretch of the thames at datchet , because of another greedy rise £7,000 , they even hired an independent to see what the lease was worth , the figure was much less than that , but the crown won't play , shame as the club had the rights for nearly 80 years .

It was £65 per annum 3 years ago, the last time I fished it. HOWEVER you were very restricted in the fishing, you could only fish one bank and could only fish during the day. I think only a handful of people joined.

Isn't it ironic that increasing the cost to £1,000 per annum was thought of as s good idea when no one joined at £65 per annum!

Sounds a fascinating place to fish. Modern carp fishing is certainly becoming a rich mans sport. £1000 syndicate fees! I wonder what it will go up to in the future!

This has just popped up on YouTube -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPPbm7FO4mI

Not my sort of video but does summarise the lake quite well, very beautiful but doesn't give up the carp easily.

Also looks like a lot of anglers at the start so maybe this was an invitation only weekend or something, anyone on the forum fish it? I wonder if anything got caught?

Yeah- i'd of strongly dislike it! but there was a bit of night poaching going on.. heard many stories now haha.

Alot of fish have been caught on that bank now. I personally had one of the 30lb mirrors from the swims just past the ruins when on a social!
