Well played India better in all departments. What gets me is trying to save a test and over half get out to attacking shots. At least make the oppo work for the win. At least the next one is a day/nighter with a pink ball so Anderson will play but don't forget India have a decent seam attack as well so could be an interesting match.

I think England should sit down and watch Rohit's 161 on how to use your feet to get to the pitch of the ball to nullify the amount of turn instead of playing from the crease.

Yeh pope looked good

It looks a lot easier to bat once the ball has softened a bit, the top 3 have to survive 25 overs really to give 456 a chance of posting a score

Games gone but I'm hoping for a bit of fight

If the hundred takes off it'll get worse in the summer. I like all forms tho, and like to see some of the international players that wouldn't come if the t20 was more drawn out. I do think they need to sandwich a few County rounds in that period tho.
I was a bit surprised at the county format this season, first glance at the Surrey fixtures and I thought they'd been relegated

Every time England struggle away we get the same questions, lose in India and we need some bunsens at county level, lose in oz and we need bouncy pitches, you don't hear it after a loss in the windies

Pope looked okay as well. How Lawrence stayed for 50 odd balls is a credit to him cos he looked like he was going to get out on most of them rabbit in headlights. But with pyjama cricket taking up middle of summer county championship squeezed to both ends of the season how many of these get to face real spin on dustbowls. I see a comment from Mark Waugh saying the wicket isn't fit for test cricket with the surface exploding on a length from the first day.
No excuses for me India have prepared a wicket for their team and have outplayed us in every department.
Root must be due a double ton so all is not lost.

Very tricky chance but by his standards that was a bad miss
Two long days after not playing for a long time I suppose.
Hopefully England can get some plans in
Place to control the run rate a bit better
Will be interesting to see how long India bat for, I'd expect them to win if they declare overnight but I'd guess they'll leave it till a few overs before tea

Foakes didn't look troubled at all stumping was hard turned sharply. Even with the dodgy third umpire England have been second best and those decisions wouldn't of made any difference tbh. Rohit yesterday took the game to us by attacking. I think 250 was a good 1st innings score on that wicket and once passed that we were up against it and they could attack with their field. Be a good one to save

Third umpire needs sacking

Well that was fun. Why are we so scared of using our feet against decent spin instead of playing from the crease.
I reckon India can declare now and still win.

It's looking like series decided at the toss with the pitches so far. Unless England do something amazing over the next 2-3 days I can only see an India win or at best a draw.

Well i think 1st day has slightly gone to India because of run rate. We need to get the rest out cheaply because this wicket appears to be already deteriorating more quickly than the 1st test. I can't see us having a run rate any where near India's and batting last on this will be a nightmare. We need all our batters to start contributing as Root will fall cheaply at some point. Root also slowed the rate down when he was bowling. Big day tomorrow and hopefully keep the pressure on.

Some of the ball tracking raised the eyebrows in the 1st test, but the stumping and then the catch off the handle

Agree with the stumping stumpcam proves it for me but he's just gone now anyway.
