If I did not own the C14's then I would definitely have had a look at these.

I've had a play with both reels when the Shimano rep brought them into the shop a few months ago mate. Both very nice, very smooth and are very good reels for the money. Ended up ordering some of the XTC's in I was that impressed with them for the price point.

They aren't in the same leaugue as an ISO to be honest but then they are half the price of them so you would expect that to be the case. If you want to free up some money though, there's certainly nothing wrong with them.

Are they going to make a 10000 size xtc? My friend has got the 14000 and they hold a rediculos amount of line.

Absolutly stunning reel though, smooth as anything.

Basicly the XSC 's drag is a conventional front drag system but it goes from fully locked up to quite loose in about 3/4 of a turn.
where as the XTC reel has two front drags which can be adjusted individually. this allows you to effectively have your inner drag set to fish playing setting and the outer drag allows you to go from fully locked up to quite loose in about 1/4 of a turn.
some people like the twin drag others prefer standard front drag, it's down to personal preferance really.

I like that black one. But having used Daiwas for the last 12 years, im scared to take the jump to Shimano after the trouble i had with baitrunners beaking on me.

Where abouts are the Ultegras made? Japan?

Anyone had a play with these new Ultegras?

As far as I can see they are the same size, (apart from spool size) with the silver XSC having the instant drag and the dark XTC the baitrunner 2 system.

If they are anything like the old Ultegras they will be as tough as old boots.

Seriously thinking about selling my Iso's and getting a set of the XSC's, (don't like the baitrunner 2 system) to go with my range set up, will free up a bit of cash too....LOL.
