Fair play mate if you enjoyed your trip there, thats what fishing should be about, enjoying yourself! Too many people forget that these days. The reason I was moaning is the fact that we had booked a few days fishing and were not told about the building work when we booked our swims. Deffo not a hard lake when I used to fish it the action would be non stop but like alot of places it would have days where the fish just wouldn't want to feed! I don't fish there now because of the reasons I have have previously posted. I like a bit of peace and quiet from my fishing and tranquil is deffo not a word to describe acorn!
Lol at gromits post sounds like a typical acorn session!

I went once last year and to be honest that was enough for me, I did catch, so im not knocking lack of fish, however, I will knock the bailiff,, we got there and the bailiff in the first peg next to the reeds/snags, said to us we could go anywhere, so me and stucarper walked round to the opposite side and set up, after a few hours we saw fish crashing on the far side so I went round to the bailiff to see if we could move, got to his swim, 3 rods out,, no bailiff,, so after waiting for a couple of mins thinking hes not far away, I went to the cafe,, there he was reading a magazine with his reciever on the table, I said " you know your rods are still out mate next to the snags"

"Yea I know it doesnt matter though, they never go in there they run up the lake"

I couldnt believe what I was hearing, untill I bumped into a guy setting up on the other side, I walked round to see him after a few hours and all he did was moan about the feathered birds on the lake lol, then stated

" will get the air rifle on them later if they dont stop hitting my lines"
"mate you cant do that"
"yea I can, me and the bailiff sit here shooting them"

enough said,, went back, packed, went home

the sound barrier to keep the noise away from the motorway is now built and helps a lot think u was just unlucky 2 go there at the time it was being built things like this have 2 be done for future anglers 2 get some Tranquillity ,i cant see why your moaning about them building it if you was the owner would u just leave it and let all the noise from the traffic annoy all your customers remind me 2 never come 2 your fishery if you ever open 1 lol.I have only ever been there twice and i enjoyed it thought it was a nice place me and my oldman had 5 fish in a 24hr session more than any 1 else on the lake, some other pegs caught but only 1 fish 2 each peg think it was just one of those days or its just a hard water 2 fish unless you get 2 know it a little.I also had my 1st grass carp from there only a baby at 10lb see pics

16 1/2 lb

10lb 1st grass carp well happy made my day

nice huts 2 dont see whats wrong with them but you just cant please some people
if you dont like the hut then dont bloody use it for 5 extra for 24hrs u cant go wrong great price
i would rate this place 2 any 1

just think some people need 2 grow up and stop moaning

It really is that bad! Quite entertaining fishing there also had a burglar alarm going off all night long there! Also Adrian (the owner) really should get some trousers that don't hang round his ass not plesent seeing that early in the morning. Remember quite a few years ago he stocked some large trout which went belly up in a week probs because of how muddy the water is! There is also a really strange statue sat on the island.

Last fished acorn a few years ago don't normally fish day ticket waters but it was a bit of a social with my mate who hadn't been fishing for a while. We booked 4 days and when we arrived we set up in our chosen pegs and began setting up. About half hour later a massive churngold lorry full of rubble drove round the lake and tipped the whole lot around the back bank! About 20mins later another one did the same thing. Over the four days we counted over 100 lorrys doing this. When we asked what was going on we were told he was building a sound barrier to keep the noise away from the motorway! Also during our stay the owner was moving the rubble around with a bulldozer and pushed a bush into another anglers bivvy, tearing it after this we left and haven't returned!

Previous goings on at acorn: an angler taking a boat out with a hole in it and sinking straight in front of my swim.

When the lake open he claimed to have fish to 36lb none of these ever got caught and when you ask him about it he says they were stolen

My mate banking a 26lb common which looked exactly the same as the "30" bono! (same tear in it's mouth and everything)

Chickens roaming the lake! Quite entertaining! But they will av ur particles

So called angler drinking heavily and being extremely load right through the night

If you want a quiet days fishing stay well away!

i know what your saying but a lot of the places round us would have 30+ pegs on the same size water as acorn and when acorn swims are full thats it most places would just put you on top of another angler as for being the idiot i myself run a very good little company and being greedy doesnt alway make you money

Dean you can get a lot out of this forum. In the few years I have been a member my undersatnding of all facets of my own fishing, and carping in general, have come on leaps and bounds. I feel well informed about the quality of products from various companies, and I have altered the way I fish thanks to information I have received and discussions I have become involved in. I've found out about day ticket waters I wanted to fish, and I've gotten onto a syndicate through the forum, which has led to me making new friends where I live (I'm not from this part of the country, so this is good).

What I'm getting at is, you will not do yourself any favours by coming straight on and having a go at people, with swearing in your posts. But there is a lot to be gained by contributing and interacting with other members in the correct way. Think about it...
