I would like to reitterate the previous comments, me and my son Adam had a great time at Blavet Valley, we were Carp Virgins for want of a better word but were given all the help we could have asked for and some more. A big thank you to Gordon, Bernie and Ross for making our stay such a memorable one. But also a big thank you to the guys fishing the lake with us, Simon and Helen, Nick and Terry (the Lighthouse Keepers), Lee and James and Graham. As has been mentioned by others, the fishing was hard going, but we stuck with it and between us we had 9 fish, Adam showing me the way. I started with a 15lb 4oz mirror followed by a 19lb 6oz Mirror, but then Adam kicked off with a 32lb 4oz Mirror followed by another of 16lb 2oz, then 2 commons of 16lb 8oz and 13lb 5oz and a mirror of 22lb 8oz, I then had a mirror of 16lb 5oz and Adam finished with a mirror of 14lb 4oz. We lost seven fish between us and all in all we had a great time.
The venue is great, the food is great and the fishing is brilliant if hard going for some.

Hi guys

Can only echo Simon and Nick's comments. Great hospitality. Even if the fishing was slow 1st half of the week it really did feel like a holiday. Gordon, Bernie and Ross put alot in to make it a great week and really can't fault them in any way.

I was down in stump and it really was tough fishing. The fish hugged under the trees the whole time and would not have wanted to be fishing it without a boat. 5 carp in total for me including a modest new pb of 22lb 8 oz. And had the Sturgeoon within 10 minutes of fishing at 21lb 8oz, it doesn't half fight! nothing from what little open water there is in this tight swim. Only down side was the boats could not be used at night as they have no lights, which really did make this swim difficult at night. However I totally understand and agree with Gordon's reason as to why they have no lights.

If you go to Blavet - listen to Gordon, he knows what he is talking about.

I would definitely recommend and will be going back to Blavet Valley.

me and the wife where there the same week and has previous post cannot fault the place hospitality, food, venue, accomadation, hired gear where all spot on the fishing was a bit hard for me and frustrating cause the fish where crashing day and night and some really big lumps at that as well managed to winkle 4 out with the biggest going 18lb 8oz.Would definitely go back and will be when funds allow. All in all a very enjoyable week with great hosts and a really nice decent set of lads on there with us.Cheers bernie gordon and ross and all the other lads that where with us on the trip.Heres a few pics if they work

Just got back from a week at Blavet Valley with my dad.

we had a brilliant time and can not praise the venue and people highly enough!

The lake is beautiful and the food and hospitality were just as good.

ended up with 23 fish.

3 -30'S
9 - 20'S
9 - high doubles
2 - low doubles

Biggest Common was 35lb 5oz
Biggest Mirror was 33lb 3oz

Fishing was slow to start with but once you listen to Gordon and ensure you are using there bait then you cant go wrong.

Gordon's knowledge is second to none and make sure you listen to his advice.

We will be back to get one of those big commons next year at 60lb hopefully!!??
