Welcome to the CarpForum Articles Page

As you may have noticed we have recently been looking for members to put pen to paper and write about all things carpy. Although not as many as I first imagined have been received the quality of some of them are first class.

First up is an article from Big Ron on Living The Dream. Some monster carp and cats - a real insight to fishing over seas.

Will James' piece titled Specimen Hunters is second. This article takes us back a few years through Will's introduction to Carping. A well written piece and a fantastic story.

Next up is Darren Conway's three part series on "Guesting". No doubt this will be controversial but I can assure you it is a fantastic read. The amount of effort and determination to catch carp from quite possibly the hardest water in the country is shown in the writing. It just goes to show the rewards are there for he who dares.

I'm sure we've all read it before, but read it again! Bill's article on Redmire is up next. A true insight to historical aspect of carping. It's so good it's even made magazine material, featuring in December's Carp Addict!

Another magazine piece next from Jamie, about a year back this article appeared in ACF, if you haven’t already read it have a read, some awesome fish and an awesome tale.

My turn next, although a new boy on the Fen Drayton scene the place captured my imagination. After my ten day session I couldn't stop thinking about the place and staring at the pictures. I just had to write about it! All about my first session on the famous Fen Drayton, the highs, the lows and how it all come together.

What can be better than the tale of the capture of one of the most famous fish in the UK?! Ed Betteridge tells us the story of his time on the ultra hard Elstow Pit Two. Again a piece that has before appeared in ACF, and there's no questioning that it deserved to. Top angling mate!

Another one from moi, all about my head banging time on a local untapped haven. The Mere.

Last but not least is another extremely well written piece from Will James on a local water. Far from your average article but a great read.

Fancy writing an article for CarpForum Articles or have any questions/comment on the current articles? Then fire away.

It is entirely up to the author on what style of article they would like to submit, wether its a "how to" article (eg, fish care, spodding, marker work etc) or tales of catches/angling experiences.....

The guide lines are as follows.

  • The article must be substantial, 1000words+ minimum.

  • Atleast three images are to be submitted relating to the article, no less than 600pixels wide and no more than 800.

  • Please name the images in numbers, then in the document label where the images should go and relevant captions.

  • Check your work then check again! If possible get somebody to proof read it.

Please include your real name and username in the body of the e-mail.

Happy writing, and when finished please send to shrop_carper@carpforum.co.uk

The site that the articles WERE hosted on, no longer has the files :(

However, using some clever trickery I have managed to grab the files from an archive, and I had just rebuilt Darren's Guesting (Part 1) and done some general tidying up.

Use this link, or the Articles button above...

I will try and get the other articles restored in the next week or two

Oh yes, and the new articles page is mobile / tablet friendly too...so you now have something to read during your loo breaks at work.
