For the record I have worked with a lot of ethnic groups and some of the biggest racists are these, probably down to years of persecution but none the less, the worst by FAR!

I worked with one bloke who was one of the key players in the Trojan horse story, schools in Bradford, Asian rule was it, they were interviewing him outside the workplace, soon went missing in action when he got his collar felt!

In response to your edit - you might as well be saying 'some of my best mates are black / muslim / gay / whatever. It's purely anecdotal and not a reflection of the centuries of racial oppression that other cultures have endured and still do. I've posted before about my run in with the d-head white supremists at my local KFC - and I've challenged black kids at school for using the term 'pikey' and 'gippo'. None of those instances mean that racism isn't an institutionalised problem here and across the world - they just show that it IS a problem

Hi Mal,

I came back on to point out to those that were interested, that there are other facts to this issue that are not being addressed on this thread.
My reference to Democrats, was simply to point out that most cities with a large population of blacks are controlled by them and have been for decades. As you know, States are run by State politicians, who are directly responsible for the welfare of their citizens, and control their own police forces etc.
I think it is reasonable to suggest that those Democrat politicians take the responsibility for the poverty and bad schooling of their black communities.
You have just confirmed why I have chosen to stay off these threads.
You and others can't discuss an issue without resorting to insults.
You go under the banner of peace and love, but you still have the capacity to mock and give abuse.

I have no idea whether Chauvin voted Democrat or Republican because it simply doesn't matter. What matters is that yet another black man died wrongly at the hands of a white policeman.

I'm sorry if you feel insulted or abused. It's the political points scoring that is ******** - not you as an individual.

Let's be honest there's a bigger picture than your fragile ego tonight - real abuse, and generations of insult. I mentioned earlier that some of the Confederate statues were being taken down. Imagine that insult - to you and your ancestors and children. A great big memorial to those who wanted to preserve the white man's right to enslave the black man.

I do promote peace and love - still do. Look at the news and you'll see why it's necessary rather than trying to defend a man who promotes the opposite.

What happened with George Floyd, is first degree murder' simple as that.
The ******* kneeling on his neck should go through a full murder trial, with a mixed race jury and bench. He has lots of history with warnings, mainly violence and abuse. Even the paramedics were disgusted with him and chums.

I was listening to LBC this afternoon' and a black chap phoned in telling his story. He said when he was young he never experienced racism for years, until he started work, and boom he was quickly aware of it. Snide comments offered with a giggle, exclusion' and gradually it was more obvious.
He became very good in his field, and is now late 40's wealthy and leads a good life but' the racism is still there probably worse than ever. He went onto say, that the uk is not equipped socially or mentally toward ethnic groups.
He suggested that blacks, asians etc, should live in countries with their own kind, even british born ethnics.
He was questioned why, and he said because this country offers great education and healthcare but' the racism is as bad, if not worse than ever.
He said, in his opinion, racism will never go away, ever!

I said the same in a post a while back, and was accused of bigotry and racism, by Mal and his mate.
I would like to see racism gone because of the money it has cost me. I really can't see it happen though, and especially in America, it is more blatant there now than ever.

It works both ways to' a jamaican women is claiming corona virus was man made to eradicate blacks and other ethnic races.
One thing is for sure though, the copper that murdered floyd should pay the price, nobody deserves that, even over a suspected fake bank note.

I actually believe racism is inherent in ALL our DNA, fear/suspicion of difference is part of our natural defence mechanism, necessary for survival. It's deep rooted in our instinct.

Years of education and moral code have trained us to ignore that perceived “threat” as (theoretically!) it is no longer relevant to our society and even to be ashamed by it.
We've all decided to live together in harmony right, so we need to buy into it.
Varying levels of education results in differing levels of success in suppressing that instinct.

I agree education is the answer, but only if that education is applied equally throughout the world and racism even (waaaaay!!!) more socially stigmatised than it is now.
We're trying to educate out our own nature and that is going to take some serious effort!

Does anyone really think that if black folks were winning this sh!t-race, that white folks wouldn't be looting, stabbing and shooting? Swap the colours round all you like.

While there are those who can and will take advantage of the situation it will not happen.

Unbelievable.......piers Morgan now dragging race into the Megan McCann disappearance stating if it was a black girl there would not have been the same media attention........how the **** can he state that.......hundreds of kids go missing with no media attention every year!!!

I don't think it was premeditated murder, doubtful he woke up that day and planned whatever events led to George Floyd being detained and subsequently asphyxiated.
More a case of strength in numbers and an opportunity to throw his little bit of weight around with a bloke who was known to him and would ordinarily snap him like a twig, who knows there may have been history there? That's not to say that all the coppers shouldn't be getting their ringers opened in jail, but it would be really difficult to premeditate the situation on video.

Agreed and I said it earlier while he had his knee on his neck and the other cops formed a barrier they probably thought they had the situation under control. I'm not using that as an excuse by the way, far from it, IT WAS WRONG!

What I'd like to understand is how did presenting fake bank notes in a shop lead to this. Surely the shop keeper would just not accept them, what happened that caused the police to be called?

I don't think the police officer who was kneeling on floyds neck, woke up thinking of murder but, during the ordeal' he was seen kneeling down harder, even after bystanders told him that floyd was dying. Even a paramedic lost his temper with said policeman when he arrived on the scene.

The police kept telling floyd to get up and get in the car, even though three of them were on top of him. Floyd was also motionless without a pulse for the last 3 mins of the restraint. One of those *******s must have realised he wasn't breathing.
The policeman who knelt on floyds neck has a very shadey past in the force, and probably should have been fired way back.
His colleague, the one who looks chinese or mixed chinese race, also has a similar record in the force.

There was no need for such restraint, floyd fell or dived to the floor as some police claim but' he was not struggling or being violent.
The officer who did the kneeling and floyd served different shifts as security, maybe they have history, and the policeman took action against floyd while he had backup instead of facing him alone.
Whatever the reason, the man, black, brown, yellow, pink or white' did not deserve to die in that way.
I read yesterday, that the neck restraint method has caused at least 40 incidents where suspects have passed out, and other medical issues have taken place during restraint. Why didn't they taser him instead.

I hope all the police involved get what they deserve.

I don't think he'll be charged with 1st degree either. But he should be convicted of 2nd degree murder as it's clear his actions killed a man.

Keebs, I have to disagree. We are not born racist. We do have instinctive fears but we also have instinctive curiosity about difference. Look at the way children are with each other and how they will happily play with anyone regardless of colour or creed. Racism is a learned behaviour - which means it can be addressed if enough of us keep trying.

Agree with all of that, but what you describe is 2nd degree murder as far as I'm aware. Intentional, but not premeditated. Still carries a hefty sentence luckily
