Hi im jeff an new to carp fishing complelty, ive only ever done sea fishing, fresh water fishing, an fly fishing, i have done a little coy carp fishing when i was younger with my uncle, an we just used maggots an sweeetcorn an bread, but i havent ever used boiles or anything like that, an i have just brought myself a carp fishing set up, 3 rods, 3 reels, rod pod it came with a net 42 " an handle un hooking mat an box of accsories an 3 alarms, an i brought a bivvy seperatly to.

But the box of accessories is confusing me, as i googled tulip beads, an there is different makes an some look different to the ones i have an other things look different to the ones i have, but anyway, i have managed to make a helicpoter rig, but want to know if my lenghts of line are to long or not long enough, the line from the swivel to the weight is 50 cm, an the line is connected to a swivel an pear shaped bomb with swivel built into it, so i tied the line to that an then put a piece of rubber tubin over the swivel to protect it an then put a rubber stop bead about 10 cm away from the swivel at the top wich ties to the main line. Is this right.
Then before i tied the main swivel to that line, i got a tulip bead, an another type of bead which is pointy an then has bead end the other end, an a swivel wih has one eye bigge then the other, an basicaly put the swivel over the thin ponty end, an that pointy end went into the tulip end nicely an then i put the line threw it so it can move freely up an down the line an go round to. Is that right.
Then thefree eye of the swivel i tied bout 60 cm of line, wich i now know to be called the chod an i put a piece of rubber tubin over the swivel an then some anti tanlge tubin into that as it fits nicely, just so it stops any tangles, an then i put a hook at the end with a loop for the boile an the boile stop.

So the rig does work, as in it goes up an down freely an spins round freely, but i want to know if my line lenghts are to much or not long enough , an if it sounds right.

Like i say im new to carp fishing, so please forgive my ignorance. If it was a sea rig, i could make it in my sleep. I think i did ok, as i justed looked at the accessories an managed to make some rigs up.

I also got some tubin that has a weight swivel attachemnet just less then half way up, so with this one, do i thread the main line threw it, then tie it off to a swivel an then tie a hook length to it an if so how long the hook length.

Also with my rigs, i have been using 19 lb line, as i have got some surfix sea line, as its one of the best lines, an is 0.35mm so it isnt thick, but it is strong line, is that ok.

Like i say im new to carping, an im confused an lost with so much of it, like when i went into the fishing shop today , i was looking for hooks with the boile attachamnet on it, an there was loads of diff types, some wich had a loop on at the end, some that had a piece of stright metal, some that had a spring like iece of metal, so i got the loop ones as i have stops, an then i also made a few up myself, i made some knotless ones up as i can use the boile stops on them to, but when in the shop, there was so many types of hooks with attachments on, i didnt know which ones to get or what type, an what hook size, the guy in the shop, was a sea fisherman, an didnt really know himself.

An what make of boilies are goo to, i have brought a couple of bags of berkley buzzbaits, one cherry red berry flav, an one royal honey flav, they smell really good, an i also have a bag of halibut boilies by richworth or richmond.

Anyway i hope i havent waffled on to much lol, but some help an advise for a complette an utter newbie to carp fishing would be really helpful, thanks very much.

Hi all,

New to the forum my fist post so no longer a carpforum virgin. Been reading on and off for the last few months. I've been carp fishing for the last year or so and always looking for hints and tips to net the beasts. Just got back after 48 hours on the Manor linear where I was awarded my 'blankety blank' cheque book and pen!!

Look forwarded to speaking to some of you soon.

Hi All

Have been lurking for a while now but decided to sign-up after my daughter, Brinaeastlake, has become a member.

I've got back into carping after a break of over 20 years (long story about ex-wife selling my gear when we split up and not getting round to get more stuff )

Anyway, looking forward to picking up plenty of tips and advice as carping has moved on so much since the last time I fished.

Hi, all new to the forum.I have just started fishing again after not picking up a rod for at least 15 years. have had a look around the forum and learned loads, as the sport seems to have changed a lot since i last fished. love the idea of the baitrunner and modern carbon rods are so superior to my old glass fibre ones anyway hope to learn a lot more. hopefully off to catch a 500lb monster carp to feed the kids to

Hi

Im new to the site so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

Im trying to find a carp venue where i can beat my PB of 19.8oz. I also fish for cats but i want to get a Capr above the 20lb mark and i have lost a few at the net :(. Still trying to get that elusive one and would appreciate any suggestions on venues or whether there are any fishing weekends or weeks planned.

Hope to speak soon.
