Maybe this could stop other threads getting dragged off topic by recent developments.

A thread about stuff in the news, that's not been covered by other discussions.

So, https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-53292142/coronavirus-uk-pm-s-father-says-he-hopes-for-air-bridge-with-greece

Pissed up Stanley Johnson explaining why the rules are for the little people, not for those of his stature, or Dom C, obvs.

For those who voted for Johnson as Conservative leader, don't you feel a bit embarrassed by it all? If you'd gone for Rory Stewart there'd be a good few thousand more pensioners alive today.

Would that be one Rory 'Opium' Stewart the manspreader?
I'm no fan of Boris but Rory Stewart? come on!
And besides you cant categorically say anyone would have saved more lives, its alright with hindsight and i agree we've done very badly and it has been badly managed, still it could have been a lot worse....it could have been JC....and i dont mean Jesus Christ!

I don't think the penny has dropped yet that they didn't elect a leader by voting for Johnson.

Stan's a Remainer so it's hard for him to accept a ruling

More of a comment on RS going on about locking things down while BJ was on holiday than a labour vs conservative thing.

With deaths the worst in Europe bar Belgium, I seriously doubt anyone, left or right, would have done worse than Johnson.

I know i have mentioned it before , i think we are entering the most important time in this countries history post wwII with the laziest least component leader imaginable , the populist choice , peddled by our , not fit for purpose press , this country needs a huge shake up , as the financial times admitted , capitalism is self corrupting and it needs resetting ,

I tend to agree with what you say about capitalism but what do you replace it with? We all of us are guilty of embracing it, I expect most on here own an iPhone or something similiar, drive a car, take holidays, aspire to own their own home, so please tell me what you replace it with?
Socialism, Marxism, communism don't work, they are corrupt by their very nature as there will always be fat cats and rulers. Humans are greedy and that is the problem, if most people were happy with their lot then it would work ok but the powerful and rich don't help
A little story here, in the late 70's I spent six months in Israel working on. Kibbutz, in fact I worked on two, one was operated on a communal type of system where the profits were sunk back into the Kibbutz, the other was predominantly cotton growing which is very profitable and was run more as a business. On the first one, one of the jobs I did was working in the Kitchens prepping up food for the communal dining room, we were warned that some of the elderly Kibbutzniks might occasionally pop in and help themselves to bits and pieces and that we were to turn a blind eye to it, basically it was petty pilfering as there was food throughout the day at set times for all of the Kibbutz members, the Kibbutzniks and of course for us, the volunteers, some of them chose not to dine in the dining room and preferred to ‘steal' food and cook at home as they had basic cooking facilities there, I know it appears that I have gone off on a tangent here but what I am trying to say is that these systems always eventually break down because of human nature which to many equals greed and selfishness. So I ask again if you don't want Capitalism what do you replace it with?

If you Honestly believe ANYONE could have done any better then you are deluded and you need to give yourself a serious smack in the gob For even thinking it

It's all hindsight. Borrowing from the logic used earlier in the Pastor thread when we voted our politicians in we didn't ask them of their knowledge of viruses.

Ooh La La

As I say what's this got to do with Stan's Greece holiday?
