In reply to Post #16 What are the Aerlex 10000 Xtb reels like

In reply to Post #1 I have (had!!) a sonik Spod reel, did the same all the time absolutely useless design, mate bought a 10 foot sonik set up and the reels do exactly the same.. I’d go with the soft Velcro idea on the inside of the rotors, did that on some Biomasters way back in the nineties and maybe try putting one of those charity rubber wrist bands on the spool also .

In reply to Post #1 I've got 3 Sonik Vader x RS 8000's and the same happens with those,I also never had this problem with any other reel in the past.
If you make sure the spool is right back to the reel the problem hardly arises.
Even though i got fed up with them and bought 3 Aerlex 10000 xtb's and the problem was solved.

Line getting caught behind the spool is usually user error , by keeping the line tight and always looking at the line going on when you are using the reel will sort the problem out . It gets caught because of lack of attention when actually using the reel , if your reel is filled up to the correct level , you’ve only yourself to blame really if you let it get behind the back of the spool , I use reels with no line guard whatsoever and suffer very minimal line going behind the spool , practice makes perfect

I know someone who was starting out in carp fishing having done a bit of match angling previously who kept having this problem with wychwood riot reels. He was getting so frustrated and asked me what he was doing wrong so i had a look / play about for him. I checked all the normal stuff as people here have suggested, line capacity, respooled for him ect. Even i couldnt stop it happening all of the time when using them and after looking on the net at the time it seems others were having the same issue so i think it is purely down to design sometimes

In reply to Post #5 Stick it onto the inside lip of the spool
In reply to Post #9 ive found its both spool level and spool shape, if there is a lip to the spool it helps, if the arms have wiper blades or thick brush's it helps, if the spool is level or rounded its hella bad, drives me nuts on some reels,

over filling is biggest culprit

In reply to Post #6 started off using Gardner Mirage flouro

but like i say ive never had this happen on other reels

In reply to Post #4 like how

In reply to Post #1 Some people will put the wolly side of self adhesive velcro on the inside of the spool to close the gap and stop it happening mate
In reply to Post #2 i'm just a bit confused because it's never happened on my other reels
In reply to Post #1 Check you have not over filled your reels,it can go behind if let the line go slack when reeling in.I always check and check again. If the lines new it might calm down once the line has bedded in a bit also

I'm a carp fisherman in learning. So basically i'm still a noddy carper lol.
I keep getting line going behind my spool. i can't work out why its happening.
I've not had this happen before.
I'm still learning to cast properly, but this has never happened before
It's only happened since i bought the Sonic Vader X 6000 RS reels.
Is there something i'm doing wrong
And is there something i can do to stop this.
If it was down to my casting, how come it didn't happen before i bought these reels
Any input would be welcome
