Storms can be so bloody terrifying

50 odd years ago I was working on a building site and there was a massive storm with 60mph winds and the 12 story block that was being built the scaffolding at the top section partially collapsed the boards were spinning and falling there was the cars all parked and a guy was sitting in one when a scaffold pole went straight through the passenger side roof and the seat and the floor into the ground !!! I was about 20 ft from it heard the bang and looked round and I have never been so frightened seeing all this lot crashing around me not knowing if something was going to hit me
oh and of course I was Cod fishing at Langley point Eastbourne when The Great Storm of 1987 hit that was hairy too

Agree. Nothing more humbling than extreme weather. Love being out in it.

Some of us take a sadistic pleasure in being at one with Mother Nature when she unleashes. I loved being out in that, it was great. Just don’t tell health and safety.

Yeah I know what you mean..

I got splitting wedges from work and sledgehammer, that's what I've done ,or big axe on the wedges sometimes..

(Not this year but I seen roofing slate stuck right in a estate car from a storm, like a hot knife in butter)

Council put a notice on a tree on my land saying it needed chopping down. Had a quote for £1200 got it booked in. Storm brought the tree down across the road last night, the guy who was booked on to do it came out in the night and chopped it up. Said Iikely won't be charged as it comes out the emergency damage fund. Happy days

I’m out tonight, can’t say no to 980 pressure! Getting the rods out on the middle of a pit in a boat was a bit hairy. Had to sit down as it felt like it might flip!

Had to walk the dog this morning and do a bit of shopping otherwise I wouldn't have ventured outside. The older I get, the more I realise that life is too short to be freezing cold and miserable. Fishing is supposed to be an enjoyable pastime!

I've seen a few posts on social media now with bivvy related issues. Genuinely dont know why people were out last night, freezing cold, snow, and gale force winds.
