A German rig has no stripped braid. The whole point is that it’s stiff all the way through.

I picked up some ESP trig hammers to try on ronnies yesterday, whilst messing about i tied one on a slip d and all i will say is the hooking potential looks proper naughty. I have never had a rog flip and take hold on the palm test as far back across my palm as this one, just need to get down the lake now and see if it really is any good. But might be something for guys with the hooks to have a play with

I have found that when using the slip d, even if foaming or PVA’ing it during the cast to prevent tangles, it only takes one rejection from a fish, or even getting messed around by smaller fish, for the hair to double back around the hook shank. It’s a shame, as I love the properties of a slip D, but this resetting issue forces me back to using a conventional D rig (PS, I hate the mechanics and lack of separation of ‘swivel on the hook shank’ rigs....although they do tend to work for people)

There is a possibility of it tangling which I overcome with a stringer or by threading a bag on.

Depends on how much movement there is in the rig if you have a longer distance. of movement then i would foam it up or use a pva stick to prevent tangles.

Those of you that use the slip d, do you use pva foam or anything on the cast? Was wondering if there is any possibility of the hair/loop tangling on the cast?

But everybody else is doing exactly the same thing and it still very blatant in my opinion. Fine on a runs water I suppose, but the slip d is always my go to rig if I can get a good drop.

I would be interested to try a Slip D. I like the german as it is a simple case of mini swivel on and then hook bead and you are ready to go!

I’m a massive fan of the slip d and use it most of the time, hook holds are very good, needed the forceps at the weekend it was that far back
