Hi I use a spod a lot for putting boilies out but I am not so keen on the tight baiting they create. I have seen the TF airbomb and it claims to create what I'm looking for I.e a spread of boilies. Has anyone had any experience of using one of these or tried the half a boilie in a spomb tail approach? I want to purchase the TF one but need to know that it does what it says it does. Many thanks

Maybe when you fish closer in, but then for boilies you can use a throwing stick to get a spread....

I tried the TFG thing and didn't get on with it, I didn't like how hard you had to hit the clip to get it to open. If you want a reasonable spread of boilies without using a stick just use the mini spomb

There's a certain knack to using these things. I think they're exceptional at spreading your bait out. The one and only thing that properly boils my p**s with them is that they love to dive and can really knacker you out if you're banging out say 20kg over 100yrds + in one go. Got one spindley girly arm and the other is like Arnold Schwartzenagger's as a result. A beast of an arm.
Oh, and if you've got trees behind you that you even slightly graze, like the slightest of slight when you cast out, you'll get covered in spomb. Rats'll love you. Happened loads of times to me. If you ever hear some geezer really letting rip with the swearing and sounding really angry...like a mental...when 'a spomin', that'll most likely be moi...

Ok thanks for the feedback chaps , it doesnt sound very much like they are fit for purpose. I'll try the half a boilie in the tail fin approach with the normal spombs first then.

What depth of water are you fishing over? You'll be surprised at what spread a spomb of boilies looks like after they've sunk 12 foot or so. Halved baits will work too as suggested. Or maybe try a smaller spomb and don't hit the spot all the time? Obviously it'll take longer with more casts but will give a bigger spread at no additional cost.

I would be using it on shallow and deep lakes. Currently I spod or spomb baits and i understand they spread a bit but was looking for a wider spread at a distance further than catapult range.

The TF is well known for being a load of cack. Avoid!!
Best way to spread with a spomb.... One cast clipped ,second add or shorten and clip- work it around like a clock. Simples!

Tench anglers have a thing called a spadge, similar in principle to the tf gear airspod I believe but I havent seen how they make them... Yet!

I think it's a great tool used to spread your bait, just the diving thing gets on my tits.
The spread you can get with the TF gizmo is fantastic once you get to grips with it. Not sure how they could get it to stop diving; maybe a redesign of the fins somehow?

I think it's the shape overall, it's too nose heavy. Make it a bit narrower at the front to balance it a bit better

Well some mixed reactions to the TFG tool but think I'll take a punt on one. I like the whole principal of a wider baited area of boilies. Thanks for the replies.
