It's gone from 0.7 to 0.5% of GDP.
It would have dropped a lot anyway, with the fall in GDP, now it'll be even less.
Lots of experts think it was money well spent in terms of promoting exports and exerting soft influence around the world, as well as just being seen as the good guys.
But like the statistics that clearly showed EU immigrants put more into the system than they ever took out, why would the Tories let facts get in the way of an opportunity to get the racists on side?
Maybe they genuinely can't afford to give a few quid to the world's poorest while shovelling millions to their mates for non-existant PPE though. Difficult choices.

An insight as to where our "hard earned " goes , if anyone thinks a decent percentage of this money goes into helping the needy they are very misguided , it's not called boomerang investment for nothing

the overseas aid cut - from 0.7% to 0.5% - in real terms amounts to a 28.5% cut in the amount of aid received by some of the poorest countries in the world, IF our GDP remained the same (which it won't, so the actual cut will be even greater).
It's estimated that it will save around 4 to 5 £billion. a week after Boris says he'll spend £16.5 billion on a ****ing space programme and Artificial Intelligence. because that's what the country is crying out for right now. ****ing rockets and robots! it's also less than the £10 billion extra that UK taxpayers will be paying because they failed to properly prepare with PPE resources and there are 4000 containers of the stuff still on a dockside in Felixstowe...
unless nobody noticed, the covid pandemic is affecting all countries and cutting aid to the poorest in the midst of it is shameful.
but it's easy / lazy devisive politics isn't it? why should we help 'them' instead of 'our own'? that brexit mentality will see us through eh?
then in the next breath - freeze public sector pay because 'it's not fair' to private sector workers who will have less because of covid... so those with 'more' should be supporting those with 'less'....? hypocrisy much? want to apply that argument to overseas aid? (by the way, I missed the part where the loss of private sector income / jobs was the fault of public sector workers...)
it's ok though because those NHS workers who earn less than £24,000 per year (before tax and NI and without subsidised meals and expenses claims) will get a whopping £250 pay rise. Don't spend it all at once now. It might cover the parking charges at the hospital you work at for a few weeks eh? and his justification is that it is to 'protect jobs'. so private sector bosses won't go ahead with their planned staff cuts because the Police aren't getting a pay rise? ********.
and the 'living wage' (let's see you live on it Rishi) is being increased by 19p per hour. whoop de ****ing do.
by comparison, MP's have awarded themselves a £3300 pay rise from April (that's when the latest furlough scheme ends and unemployment will hit record highs btw)
19p per hour - on a 40 hour week, it would take you over 8 years to earn what Boris, Rishi and co will get in one year as a reward for their piss poor governance. that's of course if you can find a living wage job after April next year...
It'll take those lucky NHS workers over 13 years to make up that one year figure. if they don't catch the virus in the meantime of course.

Running a business is about success and failure and the critical decisions made dictates this. Loads fall by the wayside, some succeed, the successful ones are that for a reason, they are good at what they do, they often progress and do the same again and again. That's the type of person I would like to see in charge of the county, not some over educated **** wit who has got virtually zero experience or track record of success
Decisions are decision made around the data in front of you or collected, same as the country's cash pot, where do you want to apportion it?
And this is what I do not like about politicians, spouting **** to gain votes, they should have a defined policy and should be held accountable, separates the men from the boys.

I know where you're coming from mate, but he has worked for Goldman Sachs and partnered/run investment companies with £00's of million portfolios.
That's why he is chancellor and not business secretary, who has also made some coin in his time but I don't know much about him

Had a read to educate myself, Good education, Goldsmiths for 3 years as a graduate analyst before leaving and working for The children's investment fund management. That made me laugh, it's account is offshore in the Caymen islands and he became a partner, nuff said, perfect criteria to be a politician in the U.K.
Hopped skipped and jumped and now works for the father in law. Successful in his field though, can't knock that. The question is, would he be successful as a leader mmmmmm
Investment banker, maybe he would be a good addition to the team, he has just saved 2% on foreign aid. I'm sure they can liquidise a lot more before they have done. Saying that, is there much more that the conservatives can **** up? Has to be the privatisation of the NHS soon!
