touches on some of the same stuff - appalling reflection of what goes on daily.

scozza - couple of articles posted. maybe have a read about some of the racist comments you are 'positive' aren't part of the problem - or is it just her own fault because of something you read about absent black fathers?

It's funny that's all you see when people say there are multiple reasons for deprivation in all communities and particularly in black ones.

But if we want to get very simplistic then yes it is white peoples fault that black people have issues in this country, why? Because black people were bought over and asked to come to live and work here by white people. That started a long journey off and here we are today. If they hadn't then it would be a different picture all together.

Why is the single father thing only a black issue? Do white single parent families fair better for some reason then?

Cut and paste

Q1. Why are there so many successful black people in the U.K.?

They probably had a good up bringing, concentrated and did well at school, have ambition installed in them and the drive to do well. They want to be a success

Neither of you have answered Q1. To be fair I would not expect you to, because you know it's a fact

You see, I know more than you think. My Mrs grew up in Sheffield and there's a pattern there, absent fathers, similar to rest of the communities. I've had a lot of dealings with them too, some brilliant people and some complete and utter bell ends.

You two keep on looking for the fluffy things in life, that why nothing moves forward because of people like you. Plenty of this

And no answers

Opportunities for all, if people really want it

We must be doing something right

WE as a country provide the opportunities, schooling etc

I think the key word is THEY

Because THEY have made it happen and made a success of themselves

You answered the question? They had good upbringings. Successful black people aren't the ones with an issue when it comes to poverty. I'm not quite sure what it proves that black people are successful in this country? That there isn't an issue with poverty? Or that there is no systemic issues in any communities because there are rich people? By your way of thinking issues don't exist in any communities because there are rich people of every race in this country. Racism doesn't exist because some people are successful?

You never answer my questions either tbf. Why are black single parent households fairing worse than white single parent households? Is it solely a race issue because you seem to make it out that it's only an issue for black people?

Your only answer is that there is no issue, apart from lazy people. Which is mind boggling tbh. Head in sand merchant. Never make anything better because you are scared to admit the truth.

Don't really get how that is a response to my post. There would be no black people in this country if white
People didn't force and also ask them to come here. There would be no successful black people, nor would there be any poor ones either. That is why it is on a very simplistic level it is white peoples fault that black people have issues in this country.

Saying there is some successful doesn't mean all of them are and there are no issues

you're posting pish again - in fact the same pish you post on here all the time.

it's you going round in circles with your 'i know some black blokes who don't work hard' and 'everyone has the same opportunities' and 'there's no racism where I live' sh*te.

Has it occurred to you that those blokes you work with might appear to have a chip on their shoulder because they have to hear your bull repeatedly? Maybe they just don't like you. Did you ever work with any white blokes who are lazy or have a bad attitude? Care to share those pearls of wisdom?

To answer your question 1

Perhaps because IN SPITE of systematic racial inequality, they have persevered and found opportunities where their skin colour has not been used as a reason to hold them back.

feel better now?

out of interest - are we viewing the fact that the black woman got a job at your place as a positive? - she's been successful in taking one of those 'opportunities for everyone' after all. You seem to be suspicious of her appointment in the role - would that be because she's black? or a woman? Would you have bothered to question it if a white bloke had got the job?

now - care to answer my question about Dawn Butler? Is there no problem with racism there? Is it her own fault? or because some black families have absent fathers?

as for nothing moving forward - the biggest barrier to that is people denying there's a problem and hence taking no positive action. simple really

The same Dawn Butler who claimed to have 3,000 people sleeping rough in her constituency whilst the actual verified number of rough sleepers was 3,900 in the whole country 😡

The left do not want equality in the country whether it be north/south, rich/poor or black/white they thrive on division. How many Labour MP's send their kids to private schools? I can think of 2 black MP's who did not want their children educated in London state schools for a start! I wonder why for a party of the people?

Role models are required in all sectors not just rappers, DJ's or sportsmen. I am talking about industry, health, finance, building and the likes. And let the black community shoulder some of the responsibility for this. They have to motivate their youth the same way the Asian community push their children forward. My mate joined the job at the same time I decided to specialise he decided on promotion. One black one white but motivated, we both decided to apply for different roles at the same time and he was told to take his application in person so they could see he was black. His reply was I don't use my colour, if they want me they want me it's on merit. We both got our roles 😀

My grandson who is 3/4 black his mother my step daughter was dual heritage and his father Jamaican. He was a pain growing up and always in trouble with the law and was taken into care at one stage. He turned 18 last year and has been unemployed since school. He had a child late last year and this has completely changed him. He got a job as a bin man via an agency in April at the start of COVID. He started with 20 others, black/white/asian. Now 4 months on he is still working has been offered a full time direct job and is the only one out of 20 still working. He has grown up, wants to give his son everything he should have and he sees the only way of doing this is working and supporting him. People just need focus, motivation and a will to succeed.

Going back a few days I seem to remember Scozza saying there's a lot of positive discrimination in his firm and that not always the best person was chosen. Now that can happen from time to time but if it becomes common then over time most people will become suspicious

alright fishie? survived the river?

Dawn Butler may well have told porkies about rough sleeper numbers. No excuse for that and it's wrong.
It doesn't for one second excuse the racist abuse she - and her staff - have suffered though. The attacks have been based on her colour - not on her political comments.

As for MP's and schools / left wing politics, that's maybe for another thread?

I agree about positive role models - it's just stereotyping to assume that all black kids want to be rappers etc. as mentioned a few posts down on here. There's a nice quote regarding aspiration - 'you have to see it to be it'. If young BAME kids can see their role models in industry, management, finance, teaching, Police etc. then they can more readily aspire to it. It's been an argument for getting more girls into STEM subjects for years.

The story about you and your mate is great and credit to him for his approach. You might get accused of it being a 'fluffy' story but what the hell eh? If that was the norm across all areas then we'd have a lot less to worry about. Unfortunately it's not yet.

edit - tinhead, yeah i recall the discussion about it. it's scozza's perception of his workplace. and we also discussed the reasons why positive discrimination has had to persist. no going round in circles allowed.... although i do recall asking him a question back then that he never answered...

And that's the whole problem isn't it. Something that was right 100s of years ago. That's called history, it's gone, done with, something to reflect on and learn from. Maybe that's the next step forward, forget about the past, we cannot do absolutely anything about it, done

I bet your one of those who dont like the Germans because they bombed your grandads chip shop in the war!

Just like your love of the police. You need to drop it, if you can't then don't expect anything to change, and guess what, that's the same with everything else
