Might sound democratic , but it is far from being democratic , the main Jewish political groups have both ruled out a coalition with any Arab partners , their vote is virtually meaningless , and after recent Knesset legislation which defines itself as the “nation-state of the Jewish people,” instead of the state of all its citizens, as typically practiced in a democratic country

The Nation-State Bill or the Nationality Bill, adopted by the Knesset on July 19, 2018 was meant precisely to prevent that possibility.

Likud member Amir Ohana, who is chairman for the committee that prepared the legal path for its passage, stated , “This is the law of laws. It is the most important law in the history of the State of Israel, which says that everyone has human rights, but national rights in Israel belong only to the Jewish people.
