And the Palestinians are totally innocent democratic society.
This is all reminiscent of the protestants and catholics on an island quite close to us. it wasn't resolved and eased by continual violence and terrorism is was partially solved with democracy and talking!
Hold free elections, and peace talks then the world may accept a free Palestine. Carry on firing missiles into Israel and whinging that Israel is retaliating gets them no where.

I'm sure if the Palestinian people stopped bombing and the supporting countries that supply them with arms stopped there hate towards them they might gett somewhere the Jews are only standing up for themselves against countries that openly call for there death for years Yet nothing said

Wrongs on both sides and can be resolved peacefully but neither willing to make that step, other democracies instead of pushing it towards peace keep supplying them with weapons. the conflict makes money so why try to help mediate.
I suppose Ocelot would say that the righteous path of the British would be to help out and sort the issue out...when in fact they make so much money selling arms to Israel that no conflict isn't good business for them.

We tried to keep our obligations in Palestine but were kicked out by a murderous terrorist campaign by Haganah/Irgun and other Jewish group's.King David's hotel, hanging British soldiers in orange groves( edit: Sergeant's Affair), the Exodus ship etc. Plus eventual international pressure. It was a rock and a hard place for the British unfortunately with what had happened to the Jews in Europe You can't win them all Greeki.
Best chance of peace they had was ended by a right wing zealot assassinating Yithzak Rabin. Another great leader murdered for doing the right thing.

His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.
Hardly keeping their end of the deal Israel.

Greekskii and fishie both have it right regarding the Israel/ Palestine conflict. Interference and support of the the conflict from others - notably the US - has made the whole thing immeasurably worse for decades.
There's a great book called Footnotes in Gaza by Joe Sacco that explores it. It's a graphic novel and the words aren't too tricky so even if you're a Trump supporter it's accessible.... (that means it's easy to read)
A politics thread sounds a good idea. Maybe a Trump thread too with some nice pictures to colour in.
