the emergency services need to be consulted
So presumably, if the emergency services say 'No, we've already got a Massive Temple Avenue, any change would cause massive confusion', then it won't get changed.

luckily I don't think this is going to go away quietly as it impacts on so many lives day to day
I think it will lose impetus as it's not being done the right way to get Joe Average onboard.

Ask the emergency services they are the ones who showed concern.
I'm not getting through am I, you need the masses on board to make change

Don't focus on that it's not the point. It's alienating people you need to make change that you need to focus on
No good complaining that change hasn't happened when you haven't engaged the masses.
Actually I do think some changes for the good will happen this time but not to it's fullest potential.
I can tell by the replies that people must be scratching their heads thinking 'what's the problem?'
All I can say is that not everyone thinks the same as you. There's a whole wide world outside this thread, most people are good people but don't make the mistake thinking they have the same thoughts as you.
I think i'm done now if I haven't got through now I don't think I ever will

Don't know you'll have to ask people individually but we have a very active forum yet only a handful of contributors on here, that sort of says something.
OK I really must be done now goodnight

We used to be the world leaders in many manufacturing sectors. As usual, bought out by foreign business, raped our technology and ideas, closed them down and taken it all abroad and the government just sat by and let it all happen
Anyway, BLM

Well said Braders. Similar thinking to me.
Europe is just across the Channel, boat or even a train ride now, **** off if you don't like it
Do us a favour though, if they do, please don't come back, especially for our benefits as that would be pretty hypocritical to say the least!

Possibly keeping their thoughts to themselves
Possibly keeping their thoughts to themselves
We lead the world in something
Financial corruption , right up there as number 1
A massive advantage for the select few and a massive disadvantage for the majority !
We are quickly becoming a laughing stock around the world now , as they watch our bumbling lying politicians make a complete mess of everything that they touch !

All you have to do is talk to people outside this country to realise Britain has been a laughing stock for around 10-20 years. I've spoken to people that have been beyond belief about how the country is rab and those in charge and decisions that have been made.
And before anyone starts crying over the above, it isn't a reflection on the people as a whole or culture as a whole, it's merely a case that people outside of this country are consistently confused about what actually goes on here.

I never said they were run perfectly did I? Just that you have a lot of other countries, even those in turmoil at times, that don't quite understand why this country does the things it does and laughs at us.
Funnily enough with Greece, the EU were not actually going to bail them out, but with pressure applied from the states because of the air bases situated there, they did. Not to mention that a lot of medicinal plants are grown for the Europe in Greece too. Greece had a deal set up with Russia to bail them out but part of it included removing US military facilities and to set Russian military facilities replace them. This is why the EU actually bailed them out.

Morning tinhead.
I get what you're saying about joe average and agree to an extent. I'd say right now though it's more important to be getting through to joe business owner, joe decision maker, joe policy maker, basically joe 'in power' as there are systematic changes that need to be made. Once this starts to happen, then joe average will be able to see things differently and have the chance to get on board with it.
Changes in education will help. Greekskii made a good point about the teaching of German history in their schools. If the students I've worked with are representative then the youth are far more open to change and accepting of diversity. That's not a dig at olds by the way. And that keeps me hopeful. For them, diversity is something to be excited about, to celebrate, not simply to tolerate (which basically means 'I can still dislike / disapprove / fear / hate etc. But I'll put with it. )
There is a bigger momentum this time but we need to make sure it doesn't fade away before the right kind of changes happen. If a few resistant noses are bent in the process then maybe that needs to happen for the greater good. There might be some 'oh ffs sake' moments but changing a street name doesn't hurt anyone.
We might not be on the same page, but I do at least think we're reading the same book
