pretty sure that the advice from WHO and international experts back in March/April was that masks should be worn, our government went with the narrative that they aren't effective and that we had our own experts.
Call me cynical but I think they knew full well that they do offer protection, but the fact that we were going into lock down, combined with the 2m distancing in public meant they were kind of unnecessary. Then consider the ppe cock ups, they knew we had a shortage so carried on the narrative of masks not helping so people didn't buy up all the stocks. Now subsequently we have a situation where people don't believe the current advise and get all huffy about human rights.

It will be interesting to see whether those that were following this in the General section will carry on following it in Non Carp or whether the relatively small audience in the Coronavirus thread will take over.
I hope it's the former as it was interesting to get some fresh opinions

Not sure why anyone would want a "carp" mask tbh, maybe they will become the new dirty spoon or engraved kettle.....

I was in the supermarket the other night and a guy with a mask and gloves on, the lot, suddenly without warning sneezed his ring up into his mask, the look on what I could see of his face was priceless, he suddenly realised he had to continue his shop with a face full of whatever just flew out of him, me having a sick sense of humour found it hilarious and had to walk off giggling to myself (under my mask of course), if only some sort of tissue material existed to deal with such situations 
me being hard of hearing is a right mare going out, yes I wear one.but shopping is funny asf..aint got a clue whats going on around me

As post number 2 said the Arktis masks are ideal for anglers. Certainly carpy enough; about 20 or more different camo and plain patterns. I have the monkeyclimber branded Arktis ones, just because I was ordering some stuff from them and added masks to the order, and at the time the UK Arktis site was suffering from stock/supply problems.
One colour of camo hurts my ears more than the other, but I think that is due to slightly different lengths of elastic rather than any optical or stealth effects.
