'your mate' was meant figuratively. substitute 'people you know' and that's my meaning.
Anecdotal experience is always going to impact our views - the lads at your house were disrespectful - but not because they were black. Like you say, a lack of father figure is just as likely a factor.

Yes definitely and one other important factor that affects all colours is poor parenting.
If the dad has ****ed off or is in prison, the other parent smokes weed all day what chance have the kids got.

Must admit, similar thoughts to me that. The parents are the starting point, they need to inspire and provide the kids with some motivation and ambition for one. For a lot, just like you say it easier to just give up and complain sadly

agreed - and with scozza too in that poverty of opportunity is a huge factor too
widen your gaze a bit on the absent father scenario... A society that disproportionately imprisons black men leaves more black boys without fathers... who then may grow up with a mistrust of that society and the vicious circle repeats

75% of families of inner city blacks in the US are mother only and on welfare. Nothing is done by their Democrat politicians to address the issue of absent fathers.
8 years of a black president didn't promote much change to the issue.

racism isn't rendered obsolete because some people of different ethnicity commit crimes.
and it's not a problem that is just because of lockdown.
