Thanks lads for clearing up a few things

As for using braided mainline ive heard this before is this used for mainly cutting through the weed? i see in this weeks carptalk that barry& ben Oconnor have been out there lately and there using Gardner hydro TUFF as mainline .

Braided mainline does tend to cut through weed much better than nylon, just remember to use tubing or a nylon leader to protect the fish from any potential damage.

I find braid useful due to lack of stretch as well, the way I fish in the weed is quite tight to the lead(braid in the weed isn't going to spook anything)drop of lead and fishing quite a tight clutch. On the pick up the fish loses the lead and unable to run at speed comes to the surface. Bite indication is almost instant and you are then playing a fish at the surface rather than all ready in the middle of a weedbed.

i totaly agree about fishing with a drop off lead system . Thanks for all/any advise.

just wondering if anyone has fished kingfisher lake(catfish) in the last 12months?might end up on there if cant get on fox/heron late april.....

Kingfisher fished well during the winter carp to nearly 25 Kg, I know during the season when the catfish start moving there are mostly catfish anglers on the lake who use boats (rowing and bait) to position their baits, if its quiet you should be OK, fish close to the surface weed and you can catch by both day and night. Only downside is the trains! Like a 747 coming through your bedroom window at 0600 hours, they are quiet between 2300 and 0600 hours though lol

cheers for that.theres very little known about the carp stock in there from what i can gather as,like you say,its mainly cat anglers on there.its that air of mystery that appealing,who knows what the hells in there!
apparenlty theres a few 50s in that wildboar lake now,if your prepared to wade through the doubles.

can you hire bait boats at abbey?

Has anyone been on fox lake in the last few weeksim off on this friday anyone know what pegs have been fishing well and whether the weed is bad yet any info would be appreciated .

Hi all, due to unforseen circumstances back home I am no longer Bailiffing at Abbey but I can guarantee that the rules I have put in place for 2012 and beyond will be strictly enforced by Cedric and Julien plus one lucky bugger from the UK!
There are no boats permitted until the owners place a note on the website, expect this in june/july time, not before!
ALL the swims have ALWAYS been pegged and include a map showing your water. Anyone fishing outside of their swim boundary WILL be asked (told!) to leave the fishery..
In reply to the question about weed on Fox, the silkweed bed between pegs 1-18 is still present but that's currently it bar a bit of growth in the margins and around the edge of the plateau in front of 8-9....

PS Get in 16-17 and fish at 10, 12 and 2 o'clock at a range of 65-80 yards, job done!
If ur splitting up, 1 of u should get in 13, walk the far margin and check the spots (15-20ft out) and bait boat your rigs over using loads of pellet for loose feed, don't over do it with boilies or the crays'll smash u! Far better to walk round and throw 20-30 broken ones in by hand.. Oh and DO NOT CAST in this swim or you'll go home with a cheque book n pen!!!!

cheers for reply and putting me straight on the boat issue,any tips for an abbey virgin.are the supermarkets handy?how much in tolls will i need?im booked on heron in may.not too much boilie then,more pellet.

Tolls from Calais to Abbey lakes are no more than 20 Euros each way, there are local supermarkets and better ones in Compiegne and Pont St Maxeme
