And what is wrong with Essex? I have to say i'm not from that part of the world but rural Essex is beautiful, if you are judging the people by the county and what you perceive a certain person to be like then that is stereotyping to a ridiculous level, there are idiots and morons from across the whole country...including Cheshire
I would also like to ask, and this is no way a defence of the utter twit who was urinating next to the memorial to PC Keith Palmer but why wasn't the other complete twit who was urinating up against Churchill's plinth pursued by the press with the same vigour?
I personally would like to see a more balanced approach to reporting some of this stuff, especially by the BBC who said that the guy outside Waterloo station was being rescued from being 'trampled on'???From the film I saw he was getting kicked to death by BLM protesters, we can never assume he was a far right supporter, he may well have been but its not the events but the way the events are portrayed in the press that gets my goat
As for the police, my nephew is a copper and I may be biased but he is a very decent young man who goes about his policing in a respectful manner.....until he gets called all manner of stuff and is spat at in the face of course, his life threatened...etc...etc..... possibly a reason why some of them might be overly aggressive
I'd say to all of the people screaming out for the police to reign it in and basically be given less power you should all be careful what you wish for, you or your loved ones may need them one day when you have, god forbid been the victim of crime
I have probably in the past forty plus years been pulled over on a couple of occasions for minor traffic transgressions, I find it best not to antagonise the police, if you have done no wrong you have nothing to worry about, in my situations I find a case of 'yes sir, no sir three bags full sir' always helps, i'm not quite sure why a copper would point a taser at someone if they took that approach and complied

Why would you be stopped by the police if you've done nothing wrong? I've said before, in the UK we police by consent. The police have to have a reason to stop you so there's already the suspicion, there lays part of the problem.....

I did say for minor traffic transgressions which would possibly involve a talking to or a ticket/fine/points of some description, either way no reason for any type of attitude which i'm pretty sure is the reason for a lot of people's strife with the police, why people have to give them attitude when they could probably walk away without a load of hassle always amazes me, and like I said I have heard first hand some of the crap they have to put up with
I'm not sure what kind of society you want but personally I prefer one where there are police there to protect us, if you want the alternative of lawlessness and criminals running riot then that's up to you but think about it as we are getting there already and for some crimes, car, burglary, etc....you don't even get a copper these days just a crime number for insurance purposes so in a way the criminals are already winning

until he gets called all manner of stuff and is spat at in the face of course

Appalling

I think if somebody did that to me i would be going to prison

My Mrs and her team have had that quite a bit, the spit hood is a good thing what they have introduced now though. Mesh hood they put on the spitters now, personally i think a good kick in the teeth would be better but hey, ho

I was talking to a cleaner at work the other week, really nice fella. Started talking about work and stuff like you do and i asked him where he worked before, turns out he was a bus driver. Said he packed the job in, i asked him why, surely that must be a massive drop in money? It was but he was sick of getting spat at and the abuse. Used to get spat at regular WTF

If people are doing things like that they have no respect for anybody, low life's. Seriously, they should be able to cripple the ****s

What is society becoming ffs

You said "if you've done nothing wrong you've nothing to worry about" My reply was to that.
The society I want is people to obey the law and that includes the police. Regards police numbers, that's what happens with a decade of austerity.

Listen, i'm not going to get into a slanging match with you and you're the last person I need to explain myself to but you are spot on, I had nothing to worry about as I had done nothing wrong but for me personally I would be quite happy to get pulled over a couple of times a year let alone twice in forty years if that helped reduce crime figures, like I say if you are not guilty of something no need to worry. I'd say that you are one of the people the police need to worry about as you appear to be very confrontational
Oh and by the way, to address your implied slur on the good people of Essex, anything by way of an apology?
I wont be replying to you again as this thread is more like a children's playground with the bully's often getting the last word!
Thanks Sir B and Scozza
I had a mate who was a bus driver, got spat at in Lewisham by a woman, told everyone to get off the bus and drove back to the depot and jacked it in there and then. That is a true story. He then went onto work the next thirty years as a service technician for the same company as me, like you say, what is society coming to?!!!

As you're an advocate of a police state it's probably for the best so ditto.
I'll expect an apology from you via pm

He told me similar story's mate. He had one woman come on the bus one day, started talking to him, offered him a sweet, nice as pie as they say. He later got stuck in traffic, woman kicks of saying she was going to be late, he apologises, sorry love, I cannot do nothing about road works. **** off you **** and spat on him. Best thing she stayed on the bus until her stop and continued to hurl abuse at him until she got off!!!

Nobody should have to put up with that. Unbelievable some people
