I took 25kg mate, depends when your going. The freezer is not always full, but that was when Rupert was there.
Took my own partical.

I took 20kg of boilie and about 15 kg of hemp, maize and pellet. You are right the freezer space is quite tight. I wrapped mine up in 1kg bags, froze it and then took a kg out at a time from my car. I put 5kg of boilie in the freezer. By the end of the week the particle was quite wiffy that was left in the car but it lasted probably 5 days in those bags.

I didn't use anywhere near all of the bait I took. Brought probably 15kg of bait back but had 12 fish to 57lb from Heron lake. Amazing place

Im there from the 25th April till the 2nd May , we have booked the kingfisher lake.
can't believe they want to charge €12.50 for 2.5kg of particle !! I was told by Evelyne that they don't like people
to bring there own particle onto the complex.

There's a lot of cats in there so I would maybe use particles, not that that will stop them as they eat anything. I would normally say a decent fish meal bait but cats love fish meal so maybe not???

On heron though you want a quality fish meal I think, like Odyssey xxx, Malarkie or shrimp/liver shellfish from trent baits. Only been once but the guy in the peg the week before me fished cell and blanked all week - conditions were no different to when I was there so the bait might have had something to do with it - who knows though, he could have been using PVA hooks.

Where did you see the rule about not being allowed to take your own particles mate ?
I cannot find it on the website.

Update : from Abbey lakes via FB.
You can still take your own particles , this will be looked into this year
Thanks

Be daft if they ban it. The rules on there are just the right balance at the minute, no need to change any of them.

The fish I had out there were immaculate so the rig rules seem to work, no one took the piss with the bait boats bar one bloke but nothing too bad. The atmosphere was quite relaxed ie no spying on you every 5 minutes- the way it should be.

If you're going to ban particle because of safety then just put a particle checking policy in place first. If for commercial gain then fair play but make them at least affordable when you get out there.

I went on Heron for 4 nights early august last summer.
I decided to take 20kg of boilies and 20kg of pellets (all Baitworks KingFish) and no particles what so ever.
Even though the lake was fishing very slow, i had 6 fish in 4 nights (up to low 40s) and was the only angler who caught fish together with Ian Russel.

I met the new bailiff last weekend in Zwolle by the way.
Seems like a nice bloke.
It will be hard to fill Rupert's boots though!
I absolutely loved the bloke and i'm still in doubt wether to go back to Abbey or not.

I am relieved you can still take your own particles, I take hemp dry and cook it as I need it. Do the same in this country. Also take sweetcorn in tins as it stays fresh and you can open it as you need it. I am there in May and probably wont bother with boilie or pellet on Fox. Caught most fish last year on hemp n corn. Might take some maggot this year though
Are you sure?
