Close catching is vital and we won't get the chances wiothe the field like that! Did you see the amount of dust and scuffed wicket they swept up betwen the innings...!

Gill gave a chance to 2nd slip but we had no one there. One can become two then a bit of panic then who knows either way it was a crap field. Crowd the batsmen and see what happens.
As for the pitch things like that should happen on 4th and 5th days.
ICC too weak to do anything to BCCI so don't think much will happen.
Thought the umpires were decent given the nature of the pitch but third umpire again was sub standard.

I decided that rather than watch us get thrashed I'd go outside, mow the lawns and dig over the flower bed ready for Tat to do her stuff with the bedding plants. Came in to see that we lost by ten wickets after facing just over 80 overs in two innings! Yikes...thanks a lot, England...She's been nagging me since lockdown started to get those jobs done!
Well, that went well!
We've got to get back our confidence before the summer tests v India. Got to put my hands together for the Indian team. We cannot always blame the wicket and the conditiions when we are getting thrashed. Can't help feeling this rotation business hasn't helped, nor has living in a bubble for weeks on end.
Roll on the summer!

Agreed totally outplayed by India in last three tests regardless what the wicket is like it's the same for both teams.
I think the home series will be a cracker and could go either way.
Don't worry though 'The Hundred' will be the answer.

Yeh the hundred will fix the rot, road like wickets, balls that don't swing and a format where you'd rather lose three wickets than play out a maiden
I'm actually looking forward to it, but your right that it's another obstacle in the way of test quality player development.
I hope bess recovers from this series, poor handling of a promising player.
The part of this series I can't fathom though, for years I've got used to epic top order collapses, 80 for 5 isn't unusual for England, but we'll still usually post a score. This series it seemed as soon as we were 6 down it was all over. Its not like we're short of all rounders

Bess needs a couple of seasons playing CC i think they pulled him into the test arena too early. I think Pope will have to start scoring or Lawrence will have his place. Root for me is too defensive in his field settings although it helps to have runs on the board.

Root has always been too reactive rather than pro active for me. Burns is a good captain imo but hasn't nailed his spot in the team, quite a few players needing early runs when the cc kicks off. Pope will come good, they clearly think a lot of him if they pull him back after long layoffs without any game time
I thought virdi would have been thrown to the wolves in the last match

Virdi's there for the experience would be wrong to put him in. Agree they like Pope but he has to deliver at some point.
I think Burns will come back in Crawley moved to three. Bairstow got three ducks from four knocks could be his test career over he can only be picked for keeper cover and not frontline batter. Felt sorry for Woakes not played on the tour then sent home when they could have done with his control but heyho as you say see who starts scoring runs in the cc.

It was wrong to put bess in for the last game but they did it
Before his injury I would have put virdi ahead of bess, but bess' batting makes a difference
Poor handling of the bubble breaks in general, moeen, woakes, Curran(remember his knock vs India, could have done with some of that)
Woakes has been overlooked and underrated too often imo
Hopefully they've realised by now that archer is at best a no. 10 batter

Yes going forward playing Archer Anderson and Broad together weakens the batting so for me Woakes would come in unless you got an all firing batting line up but we have too many collapses.

Well the NZ Tests are warming us up nicely for the coming series against India and it was great to see and hear the barmy Army back in full flow at last. It's been a struggle watching crowdless cricket.

Totally agree Ken also good to see a lot of the counties streaming games on Youtube.

Don't know what to say really, No application from the batters. Fielding dreadful.
Bowlers bowled their hearts out but no spinner.
Well played to NZ showed why they are in the final.
