No I'm saying they should be educated because currently they aren't. That's why people have no understand of why others are offended by certain things, and how hypocritical statements can sound at times. The curriculum doesn't teach children British history properly. It skips the bad bits, that is why there is loads of misconceptions.

And to fishie... same thing with everyone generalising they “snowflake” generation. But you missed my point and took offence. I never called every old person racist. I just mean the older generation have a higher number of racist people in it due to many factors. Most of it purely not even knowing they are being racist. Things like “I hope it's not a black guy” referring to your daughters new boyfriend. Stuff like that. My point being that when the older generation die off you're left with a lower number of racist people, if going by the premise of others as young people being “snowflakes”, coupled with education and people calling it out when they see/hear it. It'll disappear.

My last post in this thread, i think we are going round in circles. You may need to read that again and seriously think about it. Is that not discrimination? the kind of thing we're all discussing here!

Maybe Covid 19 will make all your wishes come true

I'm only going on the “snowflake” generation premise that many of you seem to have. In my life I've met more people over the age of 50 that hold racist views, however mild than I have younger people. So going off my own personal experience this is what will happen. How many young people are out there baying first blood over BLM? And many are older? How many have that token racist aunt or uncle...yknow that's older than them?

Can you lot not understand simple things, like seriously? If someone dies there's less people. If 15 million people die there is less people. No one is born racist. So the babies that replace them by default aren't racist. So There is less racist people. Duck me

Completely obvious to me , the most racist people i know seem to be from the older generation , it was accepted as the norm throughout the majority of their lives and you are always going to get the easily influenced idiots who want a scrap !

Blame the immigrants , part of the ideology of populist nationalism , maybe done in a slightly more subtle way here in the UK when compared to the USA Brazil or India , but it's there and it's undeniable , don't blame us for the economic downturn, it's because of them and we will show you how tough we are going to be on them by deporting these illegal's which they knew were not illegal's ie , the windrush scandal , utterly despicable ! around 1200 have still to receive the compensation that was promised

statistics .

Sorry for the rant but it just shows how easy it is to take offence. Written words can be interpreted many different ways and not all in their intended format. Same as the spoken word.

And there you go again the oldies are casual unknowing racists and the younger generation are all encompassing great guys and girls. Step away from the media stereo types, society is not that straight forward it's not black and white there are many, many shades of grey in between.

This whole situation has now been managed into 2 factions to keep the arguments going and keep the masses at each other. It's working and nothing has changed or will change until open frank conversations take place with everyone hanging up their egos and preconceived ideas at the door.

It's like this thread backwards and forwards and not really going anywhere 🤷🏼‍♂️

You are 100% what Wayne would class as a snowflake.

I never said all old people... just more of the older generation. There's a difference between the two. One means ALL of them. Ones means SOME of them, more than the younger generation as you can see the stats for.

one of the grey areas in between...

(not just my hair)

a few weeks ago, Matt Hancock promised that 'in the next few days' he and the Home Secretary would sort out the end of the NHS surcharge for migrant workers in the NHS and care sector. Nurses, Doctors, Surgeons, Care staff etc. charged hundreds - sometimes over £1000 - for the right to access NHS services. Regardless of the fact that they pay their tax and NI contributions already.

like many of Mr Hancock's promises, it's a broken one as the charge is still being asked for of these workers today...

it shouldn't have been there in the first place of course

Not a uniquely BLM problem but one of those underlying issues that feed the discourse of a society with systematic racism...

food for thought maybe

have a good evening all

Being patriotic is now a bad thing it seems crazy times why is it only white guilt should excise if you look back in history the majority of countries have some bad history keep the statues as they were put there for the good they done not the bad.

Throw in media racism or whatever you want to call it. Article in the mail yesterday about a peaceful BLM protest being targeted by 200 white men apparently ‘defending' the town statue.
Shouting abuse such as “get your tits out”, “are you on your period” and most disgracefully “go back to Africa” at the majority female protestors. Do you know how the mail described it. They put racist in apostrophes!!! Racist is what it was. Using apostrophes implies it isn't actually racist, I mean wtf?

You had racist people saying racist things and the media outlet told the masses that the racist statement wasn't really racist. And there apparently isn't systemic racism in the country? That's gone through multiple people before being printed. Either they are racist themselves over at the mail or just plain stupid (probably this one!)

Mate don't believe the media outlets they wouldn't have a story if they didn't embellish it. 200 people it was probably 50 with the odd comment. Yes these 50 are as bad as the people fighting over the weekend but to be honest why would a single BLM girl approach these people. It was probably race baiting by the journalists. I am not defending the 50 just pointing out what can happen. It's probably me but the the more Older you get the more cynical or is it realist you get or a mixture of both!

This will now turn into a left versus right argument the thoughts and meanings of the initial peaceful protests will be lost and the emancipation, closing of old wounds and coming together for a better fairer society will be a sideline as the years old ideaologies will fight for control, whilst the numpties in parliament from all sides sit back and rub their hands in glee doing **** all and virtue signalling to appear to keep themselves relevant!

Think you misunderstood. The protest was happening and the group of white men, yes about 200 as there is a picture you can count at least 100 on, approached them. My point being the media can't even call what they said racist without trying to downplay it. That is exactly what's wrong with this country because millions of people will read that and now think it's not really racist to tell people to “go back to Africa”
Ignoring the point of things is rife in British society, just pick out the bits you want to talk about and spin.

Large group of White men were racist AND sexist to Black women who were peacefully protesting BLM, Witt social distancing. Spin it whatever way you want that's what happened. Trying to justify or excuse it simply means you're part of the issue.

They are removing a statue of Baden Powell in Bournemouth the founder of the Scout movement which has done so much good IMO.
Reason is he has been ACCUSED of racism, homophobia and support for Adolf Hitler.
Let's hope it's only temporary or If we carry on they'll be nothing left of our heritage

i think this is a misunderstanding on both sides, you and me, you say about 200 and counted 100!. its like the pictures of the beaches from one angle in the media everyone was sitting on everyone else's towel for a front page grab you headline and in the local paper a picture from a drone showed everyone at least 2 metres from everyone.

You get idiots from all sides and the media love to hunt them down and portray them as a reflection of society, eg all black youths are in gangs and running county lines, all young white youths are left leaning encompass all races, middle England is all gammons, i could go on and on.

The media, public role models and politicians want to box everyone into their stereotypical bubbles as its easier to control and dominate. You are now seeing the erasure of history, the control of TV and films and next it will be literature and then rules put in place to make people comply to the narrative they want. Sound familiar Stalin, Mao and Hitler!

In relation to your last paragraph i am not trying to spin anything or condone anything. Both you and I were not there, but if you was I stand corrected, you are basing your opinion on 2nd hand writing and hearsay evidence.

I am not trying to justify or spin it, but thanks for stereotyping me as a part of the issue, you have assumed what I am and you are as bad as those abusing each other over race, sex or sexual orientation. You are now part of the issue!

And with that i am stepping back from this thread to leave all the armchair pundits to carry on the tit for tat slanging matches that this has become.......
