Four day Tests...After today at Cape Town...?

NEVER!

Well done England and Ben Stokes and Dom Sibley...and the rest of the team who were fantastic with the bat and the ball and in the field.. Sad that Jimmy has broken down again but hopefully Jof will be back.

COYE!

(Not good news for Rory Burns. )

Had a £10 on that SA wouldn't get to 250 runs. They got 248 and didn't run at least 10 in last hour that they could or should of. Also liked butler telling that lad what he thought of him. And tv apologise for bad language

That's kind of the problem, attendances at test matches without English fans are terrible, that's where the 4 day nonsense comes from. Watch any highlights from the aus new zealand series, looks like a English County game when you see the empty stands. Then look at the crowds in the big bash games!

I can see jennings doing well in SL, I'd like to see Crawley get another game at least, but I feel its two years too soon for him.
I'd also expect foakes and virdi to travel to SL so surrey will have a tricky early season

Anderson out of SA tour.

What a shame after his 1st innings in Cape Town

In fairness to the Aus games, their average gate is probably higher than that in England but they play in enormous stadia so it looks empty. The MCG holds over 90,000 people.

The tv cameras are crafty for the big bash games though, the grounds are not as full as they first seem on tele.

Good point Tom, when I've caught highlights of the aus-nz series it looks sparse, huge empty stands with the odd cluster of people. There aren't many sixes into the upper tiers to see if they're populated.

I didn't catch the boxing day test, Google informs me the gate for day one was a meagre 81000

And the 1st test where it looked like a 4 men and.a dog county crowd would have looked respectable at the oval
aus attendance
So yes that was a bad example, but looking at other nations the test attendances are getting worse.
