ITV4 looks like more of a test to you lot at the moment, so I'd focus on that before you get too involved in some serious banter with me.. Yep, Shoulders is due to make it's customary spring appearance and it wouldn't surprise me if it was from 14 within the next 48hrs!! There's a Dutch fella, Richard Agterberg, in there right now and after blanking for all of 16hrs in 19, he upped sticks and moved into the bay at the far end where after just over a day he has rattled out 17 carp between upper 20's and 60lb (White Tips)
Steve Gurka is in 11 and he got off to a flyer, banking no less than 6 carp in his first 8hrs fishing on sunday. 2x 30's and 4 different 40's to 48.10 isn't a bad start in anyone's books!
For anyone due a visit soon, a good mix of particle, mini pellet and/or Cell and maggots looks to be the way forward?!
Fox is off to a much slower start but I think that's almost entirely due to the weather. Last week's snow and seriously cold wind saw a lot of Anglers delay and re-book their trips for later in the year so as yet, we have only had 8 guys on in total since the 15th! The best fish from there so far has been a 46+ with a couple of other 40's inc. one of the 'fullys'
Keep your eyes peeled on the NEW Abbey FB page for up to date catch reports and any other latest news, I shall 'drop by' on here from time to time to let you all know of anything important as I think of it but I'm really busy with the new tackle shop, bait and food packages so it's easier for me to post stuff up in one fell swoop on there....

Yeah it's well worth befriending Abbey on Facebook. Fun updates and that 'Wanted' pic of the big Girl is enough to get anyone's juices flowing!
Hopefully she fancies saying hello again in November, after I have had a few days on Kingfisher.

Haha, I'm not a stalker mate.. Maybe just to tie a light line to one of your bobbins or to turn your bivvy through 180° but nowt worse than that
Dutch Richard has struggled today and only had another 5 LOOOOL, these included the Grey Lady at 55+

Cheers buddy you will love it take plenty of bait im no abbey expert but got thro 250 kg in a week on fox for 63 carp and 200kg on heron last year for 17 carp couple of mid 50s been best have a good one

Evening all,
While it is not (entirely) down to me to dictate how you go about fishing at Abbey, I think I'm in a fairer position than most to comment on what is and isn't deemed acceptable and I'd have to whole heartedly disagree with Gaz on this one!!
While big beds of bait have and will continue to have their day at the right time of year, I cannot condone baiting up to this degree in the current climate.
As everybody knows, the past winter has been a grueller and as such, the lakes (and to a lesser extent, the fish), are still 'waking up' right now, we're only just seeing the first buds poking through on the branches of most of our trees and none of the lakes are ready for such a method. End of!
The lakes are all fishing quite well of late but and it's a big but, the majority of successful Anglers at this time are scoring by fishing small, tight areas of bait (i.e bags and the odd spombful) in the shallower water and also on the zigs in mid-water..
As much as I greatly appreciate someone tossing a quarter of a tonne of grub into one of the lakes to feed our beautiful fish, if I find/see/hear of anyone doing it until summer is officially announced by the trillions of (self-proclaimed) acknowledged experts in the field of carping on Facebook and the Forums, I shall personally escort you to the north facing slip road at J9 for potentially spoiling the fishing of others who've paid a lot of money for the privilege of being at Abbey. Not only that but I can well live without the stench of piles of rotting, uneaten bait as it pops up off the lakebed over the coming weeks..

PS This wasn't a personal dig in the slightest Gaz, my best haul at Abbey came to a similar sized banquet I laid on for 'em a few years ago but there's a time and a place. We have only just got over the shock of a recent Angler's exploits, when he proceeded to whack out 100kg of the cheapest boilies he could find and killed one end of the lake stone dead for 14 days!!

No probs at all buddy the guy i was giving advice to is going in september i agree would be crazy using that amout of bait this time of year.

hi with regard to bait im looking to get some pellet for my trip to fox in july. so I was wondering what type i.e halibut, trout etc and what sort of size I should go for big or small? one last thing the amount I was thinking of was 50kg for the week with about 3-5kg of boilie.
