We are currently under 8" of snow (and -15°C temps!!!!) but the French forecasters are still maintaining that next week'll be positively balmy, so having checked that the Eurotunnel is open, don't forget to pack your speedos to eliminate any tan-lines

Ouch, very ouch!
He does go over 'fairly' easily but after comparing his technique to Suarez's on sunday, I'd say he has a way to go until he can consider himself world class lol!!
Anyway, I don't want to turn this into a football thread so I shall save any further abuse until you are bankside Mr Craig!

Right I've got a trip booked for the 12th April next month on the kingfisher lake and I wonder if anyone can give me a few pointers on tatics, rigs, baiting up and also which line to use. I was thinking of going for the parachute bag with a snowman rig.

Hi Dan,
Stick with what you know. Standard UK tactics'll do fine but just up your line to 15-20lb BS as it can get quite weedy in there, although I'm not so sure about by then as this year has been bloody cold so far, no need to over-complicate the rigs either, as despite their size, the Carp are still pretty naive in there.. I'd suggest a hooklink material of 25lb BS too as there are a few small Mussels dotted about in the weed! Look to drop your leads and use big, strong hooks as if you're really lucky, the Cats should just be getting into feeding mode by then and 6's, 8's and 10's will do more harm than good.. 4's and 2's will do nicely, Fox XSC and/or Gardner CONTI Muggas are my current faves!
If you can lay your hands on a rowing boat then so much the better, you're allowed to use one for finding spots, marking, baiting up and playing fish so it'd be an advantage if you can?!

Thanks for your advice mate, hopefully I can catch a few beasts! We have got a boat sorted and we are just going to use bollie and pellet...can anyone recommend a decent line? I'm spooled up with brown sensor 20lb atm would that be ok do you reakon? I've heard there's some decent size cats...

Think we might take the plunge next year and head out to France....................
Abbey seems to tick most of the boxes for us, not fussed about fishing for colossal carp, just want a bit of action and a lot of fun!
One thing though, how does this `day ticket turn up and hope` work? Is there any advance booking for a whole lake or do we just arrive and hope for the best?

there's no 'turn up and hope' - you need to have booked and paid in advance and usually you select a lake at time of booking. If during your stay you want to move, providing there is room you can move to a different one.
Abbey has lakes of all standards, from Wildboar and Attilla which are easier to fox and heron that are trickier and have fish to 70 and 83lb respectively.

Easiest way is to email info@abbeylakes to check any availabilities in advance, ours is an open-ended booking system so we can see well into the coming seasons what's occuring space wise, rather than just booking year by year.. Failing that, ring 00 33 761 965 963 and I'll have a natter with you in person about what's on offer in each particular lake and the prices, as they differ slightly dependant on where you're headed..
Dan-N, regards the Cats in Kingfisher, the average weight is somewhere between 75-90lb, with a huge head of 100+ fish up to 140-150ish and then 3 that we know of that are comfortably in excess of 180lb, the biggest being 224lb at the last capture!! These don't look like your typical 'stout' Ebro jobbies, ours are bloody long, thin things that scare the be-jesus out of you if you're playing them from a small boat..
Finally, just to clarify, b*llocks, Mowgli!!!!
