A study has been made between US blacks and immigrant blacks from the Carribbean. 2nd generation Carribbean kids can't be distinguished from US black kids because they both speak with the same accent.

I saw on FB today that they were holding a BLM peaceful demo in our local park at the war memorial, three things I wondered, why are they meeting at the war memorial given the recent photos and news coverage of the recent atrocities to the cenotaph etc....why Hastings ? we have a lower than average ethnicity in the town and who are they demonstrating to ?
Well I've just seen the photos on FB and thankfully it was peaceful, and all kept to safe distancing and from what I gather no one urinated up our war memorial, but the photos showed a crowd of a couple of hundred largely consisting of white middle class and student types with the odd ethnic minority dotted about, and it seems to me it was just folk taking the Mike and giving there views to a crowd who all agreed with their views anyway... I just can't see what the point of it was ... their anger and displeasure was certainly not aimed at anyone there to listen to it, and I expect the local paper sent a photographer along but there was certainly no film crew to broadcast their message to the hordes.... just a bunch of Liberals who for their own benefit had to be seen to be doing something to the cause

You will find that the word used way back in post 119 has now been added to the blocked list on carp forum.
For this simple but important action, I thank the 2 mods who sorted it. If you now feel aggrieved that you can't use that word on carp forum, then I suggest you ask yourself why it's so important for you to say it. It's a vile word with a historical context that offers no positive reason for you to use it.

Twice you've referenced Obama in the last 2 post's. As a self advertised student of US politics, you'll understand the significance of 6 of those 8 year's being served with a Republican majority in Congress. You'll no doubt know also during those 6 year's, it's one of the lowest periods of bills being passed and signed in any modern US administration. So you'll know about the bills and acts that failed to get to the president's desk to sign into law, blocked by......

It's important that this is different than before - we EXPECT places with a large Black community to march / protest etc. But if places with a predominantly white community can physically show support then that message gets out. Maybe it's the start for some of them to become more pro-active.
Most - if not all - rallies / protests are a case of speaking to the converted - unless opposition groups / individuals etc. decide to go along to make a point. That's just the nature of the beast.
How easy would it have been for those who attended to say ' well we only have a few 'ethnic minorities' here so it doesn't really affect us'? It is part of a bigger picture sending a positive message - and the fact that it was peaceful, even more so.

It's no different now for Trump with a Democrat majority in Congress.
He's also had 3.5 years of Democrat corruption re the Russian collusion hoax to deal with and a disengenuous left wing press.
But he with the help of Senator Tim Scott has managed to implement major policies for the benefit of blacks and other minorities that make Obama's efforts pale into insignificance.
75 Billion dollars of private sector money being invested into poor areas.
You should give credit where it's due.
